White Wolf Publishing a new game - Werewolf: The Apocalyps

While this was announce a year ago. Not everyone knows about this but White Wolf (what ever company they are under) are working on a new video game IP. It is base on their table top game Werewolf game serise, Werewolf table top game will be transfer into there new RPG call Werewolf: The Apocalyps .

I know its not vampire related but it is werewolf related ;3

They're under Paradox now and I'm hopeful they do a good job with it. Werewolf: The Apocalypse was a great game back in the pen and paper days

Yeah White Wolf is still White Wolf, just under Paradox now. I'm hopeful about the game :)

i really hope this game is basically VTMB but with werewolves instead of vampires. although, its 2018 so they have acess to better game-making technology. will this game live up to be the next VTMB?

I've posted this information in other topics in the past but don't remember which one's.

Anyways, here's all the info we know thus far about the game.

Just for a quick overview:

1. Static character about a garou (what the werewolves refer to themselves as a people) who went Ronin (which is a garou that either chooses to leave their pack or to be ostracized). Or a "lone wolf".

2. The character is a man of irish heritage and is part of the Fianna tribe (this is the clan equivalent with vampire). The Fianna are essentially irish and irish related werewolves that have a strong tie to the fae (changelings, which is another game provided by White Wolf) that are very passionate.

3. Story revolves around the character's son going missing and he goes to investigate.

4. Will be able to change into 3 of the 5 forms. Homid (human), Crinos (big scary werewolf monster form) and lupus (regular wolf form).

5. Dialogue and story will be linear as well instad of more open ended like Bloodlines to allow for a more coherent story (don't necessairly agree it has to be this way).

6. Gameplay will be split roughly as

Human form = stealth, gadgets, dialogue interaction
Crinos = combat focused gameplay
Lupus = stealth, fast travel, scouting and investigating the spirit realm (Umbra)

7. Focus more on giving players the freedom to choose how they want to play (stealthy, gadgets or pure combat) rather than doing it through a typical RPG system.

8. Hub based similar to how Bloodlines is. In this case the Caern ( a magical site that werewolves protect as they serve as a strong connection to the Umbra as well as a place of power for Garou and other beings).

9. Main villain is a Pentex subsidiary called Endron Oil. Pentex is basically your stereotypical evil corporation that has the backing of a cosmic being of entropy. They deviate a bit from the lore by making the majority of board members vampires (so vampires are in the game).

Not that some vampires aren't on a Pentex company board, but the majority are just humans twisted by the Wyrm (the cosmic "evil" entity) empowered.

10. Fomori, humans who are possessed by evil Wyrm spirits (called Banes) are in the game.

11. Rage will be the blood pool mechanic equivalent with the player needing to balance their rage and handle the cost/benefit of going into frenzy. Frenzy will give massive bonuses to combat but at a cost of losing control and attacking friends and foes indiscriminately.

12. Interaction with spirits as well as other garou and even normal humans will be a heavy part of the game.

The game is looking to be in a third person perspective.

I'm a bit sad they removed a lot of the character creation as their are many tribes of werewolves that are very different as well as plenty of different ways they can be played out. from assassins to investigators to "warriors of Gaia (mother earth essentially who is why the garou exist in the first place) and even to mostly healing the land and the people.

Still, I'm glad I'm getting any kind of werewolf game as their are almost none on the market. I've been waiting for something with this IP as far back as Heart of Gaia which was another Werewolf game that got canned.

You can check out the Heart of Gaia cutscenes on youtube wihich I do recommend for people unfamiliar to get a rough idea about the setting.

Indeed! I hope it's as fun as bloodlines! I'll buy it in a heart beat that's for ssure!
