Malkavian - Dementation
Hi. Haven't played VtMB for a while. Something about 6-8 years or so.
I'm playing with Unofficial patch right now for Malkavian. And i need some explanations from veteran players.

In the original 3lvl of dementation instakill target and, iirc, heavily damage supernatural creaters. Is there some similar mechanich in unofficial patch? I just don't get if i'm using it wrong or it's just half-useless now.

I have 4lvl dementation which description says "The victim is shown his greatest walking nightmares, eventually causing a heart attack. May have a lesser effect on supernaturals". Well it work fine on humans and such stuff. But for all minibosses for instance it does just nothing. I'm ok to not to instakill them but obviously i'm expecting at least something from using this skill.

Am i doing all things wrong or in unofficial patch this skill works only with simple creatures?

I'm assuming you're playing the plus patch, in which case, yes, the Dementation abilities were changed and along with Dominate, to no longer damage supernaturals.

I think Wesp5 said he'll change this in a future patch, but i'm not sure, the discussion thread where this was said was long and i might have misread or remembered something wrong.

But you're not doing anything wrong, it's just how it is now.
Those are more of a utility skills now.

You need to invest in your fighting abilities more now.
Maybe lvl 5 Dementation does something to supernaturals, but again, not sure.
I always use Obfuscate as my primary damage dealer (lvl 5 Obfuscate instakills without revealing), and use Dementation as a backup. You can even Obfuscate around most bosses for sneak attack damage, if you can find a blindspot. But it's possible and does tons of damage.

to be honest I would like to understand how a supernatural would not be highly resistent to vampire abilities especially if they themselves weild them let alone a boss..

to have resistence is one thing, to have immunity is another

You remember right. Some partial effects of both Dementation and Domination on supernaturals was disabled by someone helping me with the patch a long time ago because of some graphical issues. I will restore them in the next UP version by removing the bad graphical effects instead.

Nice! I look forward to the new patch and new builds that will be possible if the disciplines themselves do damage again. :)

Btw is there any ETA for new patch? I mean not the date, but do you working on it right now and planning to complete it in couple of month or you don't have time for it at all right now so we should'nt wait any news until next summer? :)

It's very close! The third internal beta has almost finished being tested and then the release candidates are going to be put on The Patches Scrolls.

One more question: does Thaumaturgy skills dealing damage to supernatural creatures?

They do, most of them are meant to deal damage anyway. Dementation and Domination are "mind control" disciplines. Supernaturals aren't immune to them and when they "resist" the discipline it damages them (at least it will in the next patch. :P), Thaumaturgy is supposed to be direct damage blood magic, designed to hurt, humans and supernaturals alike.
