Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Romero weirdness
So, 3rd playthrough and I still can't figure out how to get Romero to offer the Pimpin' For Romero quest. I have never successfully completed the You Only Die Once A Night quest, and in both the Unoffcial Patch Basic/Plus and True Patch Gold, I never get the option to ask "do you need help with something else?" According to the wiki the quests are mutually exclusive. I say to hell with the zombie shooting one, I can't beat it, but I'd like to somehow check out the other quest. Is there a way to force the dialogue with Romero with the console or something? I didn't have that option when talking to him the first time, and I haven't accepted the zombie shooting quest yet, BUT he only offers me an option to accept that quest for him or just stop talking. What to do here?

Hm, you can only do the alternative quest if you are not a Nosferatu.
I'm a Malkavian. Never got the quest as a Tremere, either.
Weird, there is no other condition in the UP, in fact you can do both quests one after another in the plus version. Are you talking about the TP here?
Well as I said, I've played the game three times now - once with UP Basic, second time with UP Plus and 3rd time now with TPG. Tremere/Nosferatu/Malkavian in that order. And I've NEVER seen the quest, or even had the option to pursue it. For the record, I never successfully completed the zombie quest, either. I tried it many times, only to get to sometimes 30 seconds of the goal and then lose. It's too hard or I can't figure out what to do to beat it, and usually I don't specialize in Firearms which makes it harder.

But in those 3 runs now, I've never seen the Pimpin' quest, or even had the option to do it. Dunno, maybe I'm just missing something but I can't see what it would be.

I'm pretty sure there is a bug in this quest, but it may be inconsistent. I think sometimes when you have the girl in tow, and zone into the graveyard, she just vanishes and the quest is still undone. I haven't really explored this as much as I should, but Im pretty sure there is SOME sort of bug in it.

I'm not sure of the exact dialogue needed for the quest, but I think he offers the alternative if you decline to babysit zombies while he goes to Vesuvius. If you are a hot female vampire he may just skip straight to admiring your ass.

Kinda late, but I think you need a little more seduction as a female vampire.
If I remember right you counter-propose to help him with something else except killing zombies. Then he proposes you to find a prostitute, then you may propose him to satisfy himself with you, if you have enough seduction.
Ah, so it's a female only quest. That would explain it. Thanks!
I've done it. First you say no to helping him. Then you click on him again and he asks if you'll help, first you say you'll help, then you say you dont want to do the killing and he asks you to get a girl. If you are playing a female, you get the option of sleeping with him yourself.. I'm doing a run through as a tori, when I get to that quest, I'll copy the conversation and paste it here.

Yes ... "That's the Answer Mr. Spock !" ...

Romero only wants to have sex with a Female ...

Either with "you" as a Female Character with a high enough Seduction (Pink) level ...

Or if you decline this "offer" you can instead find a Prostitute for him ...

Your Character then needs a high Persuade (Blue) level to enlist her services for him ...

She will then follow you back to the Cemetery ...

Note ... Romero indicates a requirement for "Large Breasts" ...

The Redhead Prostitute near the Red Spot Store makes him "Happy" ...

You only get the +1 to Firearms (up to level 4 with + Patch) ...

If you recruit a Prostitute ... not for having a Female Character doing the "job" herself ...

Also ... you have to do ... SIDE QUEST: PIMPIN' FOR ROMERO ... as above first ...

If you agree to do ... SIDE QUEST: YOU ONLY DIE ONCE A NIGHT ...

Killing Zombies at the two gates ...

Then Romero goes off to get a Prostitute for himself ...

So then PIMPIN' FOR ROMERO is no longer available ... :steammocking:

I might have agreed to help him but then backed out before doing it, so maybe I missed the trigger for the pimpin quest then.
Also there is only reason to kill the zombies yourself if you have potency/celerity because you need to run back and forth between the two gates to do this quest. So basically only something like Brujah or Toreador makes that scenario realistic to complete without complicating your life and destroying your saniy or keyboard.

You see how bright you are with the discovery you made?
If you're a masochist your first playthrough with zero investment in melee/firearms will satisfy newbies of course.

You know, its just a kids video game, it doesn't take any brain power to read description of skills and spells to solve simple gametask.
Why would you even want to use True Patch Gold (TPG)? The UP is better in every way Basic or Plus
