Can't rebind mouse 2 for "use"?
Using the unofficial patch v10

I'd like to rebind mouse 2 to be my "use" key, but it won't allow that for some reason. Any idea why? I can rebind it to other functions just fine.

Also, is there any way to toggle the crosshairs off?

Hm, you are right about the mouse 2, but I have no idea why this is the case. It must be hard-coded! As for the crosshair, the console command doesn't swork either, so I have no idea...

Well i'm not sure but you can try to just remove crosshair texture from game files!

I don't think that can be done with this game, but I wouldn't want to anyways. You need the crosshair during combat. It would just be nice to be able to toggle it off when not in combat.

Ran into the same problem. I fixed it by going into the cfg file and rebinding it manually. Make sure if you're using the unofficial patch you edit the cfg file in the unofficial patch folder and not the original Vampire folder.

Late reply I know, but figured it would help someone. This thread was the first thing to come up when I googled it.

Thanks, Ninto55. Confirmed your solution worked for me. For anyone that may need more explicit directions, if using the Unofficial Patch. First, make sure you save and exit out of the game if it's already running.

Go to your install for the Unofficial Patch, most likely here if you installed it in the default Steam directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines\Unofficial_Patch\cfg

Open the file titled config.cfg in Notepad or any text editor.

add the following line to the "bind" section of the "code":

bind "MOUSE2" "+use"

Make sure that Mouse 2 isn't being used anywhere else

Save the file and restart the game from the Unofficial Patch icon or file.

Jeebus. All these years and this question still comes up, and people still need solutions for it. Thanks, community!

If something is hard-coded, we can't fix it. But the cfg solution should always work...
