Save Transfer from GOG - Unofficial Patch
Hi all,

I have been playing this game on the GOG version with the Unofficial Patch installed for about 6 hours but as i was buying Bloodlines 2 i decided to get this one on steam too to have them both in the same game client.

So i installed the game from steam and also installed the patch, then i copied my save folder from the gogs Unofficial_Patch folder to the same Unofficial_Patch in the steam version.

But when i start the game it does not show my save. Where should i put my save file so i can continue?

Where are you starting the game from?
The folder should be the same.

But if you start the game from steam directly, it runs the unpatched version. Yo need to adjust the game properties in steam (right click in steam library), and add:

-game Unofficial_patch

Add this to "set launch options", and if you put the saves in the correct folder it will show them.

It is however, not advisable to do this unless the GOG patch version is the same as the Steam patch version because your game might break and you'll end up with glitches.

i have tried running the game from the shortcut made by the unofficial patch & i have also tried running it from steam with -game Unofficial_patch set in the launch options

i know its running the patched version as if i start a new game i can see it has loaded my other mods and textures up that are installed in the Unofficial Patch folder.

But the gog version was on a lower Unofficial Patch to the one i have on Steam witch is the latest one.

Then it's best to start a new game because whatever save you have from the previous version, even if it gets recognized, it'll most likely break at one point, or will be very buggy.

Also, where are you putting your saves? The folder is:

Steam\steamapps\common\Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines\Unofficial_Patch\save

Yes that's the location i was putting the save, but if its going to be buggy and break i suppose i will have to start again.

The patch creator suggests to always start a new game when using a new patch. Because old patch can have some stuff that new patch changed, and that then breaks the game.

Then just start over, it's not worth the hassle of trying to transfer saves for 6 hours. :steammocking:
