You should try putting the Jade Cat on the "Figure Eight" pedestal. Put the Jade Crane on
the "Swirling/Twisted" pedestal. Put the Jade Elephant on the pedestal with the "Four
Columns" and put the Jade Dragon on the "Three Tiered" pedestal. This should open up the
portal to the giant squid's lair.

You need to take a look at the pedestals from where you take the statues.
