Toreador question
Is it viable to make a Toreador that focuses on Melee and Celerity? I'm in the tutorial and started as a melee-based Ventrue, but I have a feeling the lack of ability to feed on low-lives and rats is going to annoy me. Mainly I just want a build that can be good in conversations and at least decent in combat. Not interested in using firearms, though. That doesn't seem very "vampire-ish" to me.

Get the knife as soon as you can. Blades will help you greatly.

You can build your character however you wish, Toreador typically focus on Persuasion/Seduction and Firearms, but there is nothing stopping you from making a melee based one, it will just take you longer to flesh it out. Do not totally neglect firearms though they will make the end of the game a little easier.

I will say while for a good majority fo the game melee and Celerity will serve you well, you will need some Firearms for some of the later game boss fights. It's practically impossible to do them with melee.

I've decided to stick with my Ventrue, and the no feeding on rats or bums isn't as bad as I thought it'd be so far. Plus, I like the whole mind control thing. Thanks for the advice, though. I'll definitely keep it in mind.

It's not impossible to do late game bosses melee only, don't want to say more for fear of spoilers.

Crossbows exist in this game if you'd like a more "vampire-ish" ranged weapon.

Absolutely. It's whats been my favorite build so far these years. I guess people will eventually find out that celerity is the strongest combat discipline. Toreador get to double down with presence as well, which does almost the same thing by slowing down the enemies.. Also the good thing about a blade is that it never runs out of ammo. I'm pretty sure that this is actually the strongest combat build in the game. On top of it all you get to look fabulous because you are a toreador!

Sure there are certain bossfights later on during which you benefit from having a ranged weapon..

I did melee with toreador, and it turned out okay.

For your Ventrue though, Fortitude is your friend. When you max it you're almost bulletproof (almost).

Ventrue is one of my favorite clans, but there is one area in the game where not being able to feed on rats is a problem. Without spoiling too much, just be sure to stock up on blood packs before heading to King’s Way. Although, iirc there are 2 blood packs at King’s Way, so leave room for those.

I did my Toreador focused on Melee and Presence. Which made him great in both combat and conversations. Celerity is good after that, but Presence made melee quite easy most of the time.

No offense to you all, but it very pretty possible to play game with both, melee and ranged. Just you need right time to use bonus stat rewards from other characters and proper use of books.

Simple advice - never use book to rise you stat to 3, always use book to rise it to 4, that way you save exp.

Yes you absolutely can.
My first character was a toreador because it fit the kind of vampire I like and I went melee because what's the point of being a demigod if you are still using those boring firearms?
Celerity is a must have.

You can also choose Brujah clan. They got Celerity and Potence ( buff in melee combat ).
