Performance
Hey all,

I might be the only one but I am struggling for FPS. I have no issues with other games on Ultra or High settings but for some reason Dead Signal is unplayable for me on Ultra or High. Is anyone else having this issue?

Even with 4080, max settings, 1440p and DLSS off, my game gets like 70 fps, dlss on helps a lot but for older hardware playing is probably a struggle. Hope a performance optimization is on the line of updates. Let's give the dev some time.

Game is not well optimised probably because its Unreal Engine 5 (I think).

I was streaming the game, so take this with a grain of salt.

i9-13900k. RTX 4080 and running it at 1440p. I immediately dropped to sub 60 FPS when the game started and I was on max settings. Turned on DLSS Quality and it jumped to 100+ FPS.

The game looks really good, but why make it so demanding? Needing a NASA PC to play a game like this feels like an oversight.

It seems these days developers will just push the limits and then tell you to run DLSS, or get better hardware.

the performance of epic is terrible.
playing with 7950x3d/4090oc at 4k dlaa epic means 60-70fps with dips to 57fps while running around in the apartment.
that performance is especially terrible considering the apartment is a very very small environment and the player doesn't even have a shadow.

ad infinitum, also a ue5 horror game with same graphics settings scheme and same visual fidelity most of the time hits my 160fps framelimit at native 4k epic.
absolutely insane difference.
especially considering you're running through an gigantic mansion there.

btw i noticed something very strange.
when changing from dlss dlaa to dlss off my fps go down to 53-60fps in the apartment.
this is impossible since dlaa costs performance and going to off has to lift up the fps.
what's going on there?
can someone please test if they also gain fps by switching from dlss off to dlss dlaa?
doesn't make any sense.

here's my proof that dlaa sees higher fps for me than off.

for the uninitiated, dlaa is dlss at native resolution.
that means dlss anti aliasing magic without upscaling.
therefor dlaa is slower than off.
not in this game...

Off dlss, and everything on medium and shadows on low so u can see in dark places. Its better gameplay with no lags.

i have no lags.
also dlss 2 quality doubles the performance to around 110fps with no visable loss in visual fidelity, so no need to turn anything down.
the native performance to visuals to environment size ratio is just terrible.
that was my point.
ad infinitum proves that.

would be nice if you and others could answer my question.

With my setting up, I have custom on. The rest:

resolution scale - 100%
view distance - near
AA - low
post processing- epic
shadows - high
Global Illumination - mid
Reflections - high
textures - high
effects - mid
shading - mid

Seems to be oh kay with my PC set up

73fps in my apartment. 100fps outside. It'll dip around 60 while in the apartment too. What can do a number I believe, since it is Real engine 5, is resolution scale. Or AA. But by leaving Resolution scale to 100% and fiddling with the other settings, you can get a sharper quality/imagine. Just explore the settings.

Ryzen 3600
Radeon 6600 xt
32GB ram

you forgot to mention your resolution.
people with similar hardware to yours need this information to be able to compare.
only telling settings and hardware without resolution is worthless data.

I said to explore with your settings. If it's too high, and you're lagging, try lowering that. I don't need to specify which resolution I use because it doesn't make any difference. Hell, if I want to, instead of playing in 1920x1080, I wanna to play in 1440p. OR 1020. It matters to me. Use common sense. I already listed my graphic settings and my graphic card. Which is ideal to handle such resolution. If I think my FPS is low, obviously I will fiddle with that.

ah, that was for me. lol.
please mind the difference between a game lagging and a game having a very bad performance to visuals to environment size ratio.
thanks for trying to help, but reading my posts and understanding them should be enough.
especially since i already said that using dlss 2 quality makes it completely unnecessary to dial down settings.
if 4090oc owners are ok with 60-70fps in the apartment at 4k dlaa epic they don't even need that.
i am not ok with that though, so i play at 4k epic with dlss 2 quality and get around 110fps in the apartment from my 7950x3d/4090oc.

since your amd gpu makes you unable to contribute to my actual question, that about fps of dlss dlaa vs dlss off, you unfortunately can't help.
