Northern Expansion crashes

First, a bit of backstory:
I have an original copy of Majesty gold edition from way back when. Over the years it's seen 4 computers (Including my current setup), and I've lost the original disk. (The game installs to the computer and does NOT require it to play). Just to clarify I do NOT have the Steam game, I am running version 1.4 of the game

Now to my issue. However, since recently discovering I still had it, I started it up to play. Majesty works, but when I go to run Northern Expansion it just crashes. (NE is a separate game, IDK if that has changed now that it's on steam). I'm not sure if it's missing files from the time I've had it, or if it's because I'm not running Windows 98. Any help would be great, I just want to play

Does Windows 10 offer XP compatibility mode?

I'd have to set it up on a Virtual Console, Windows 10 doesn't have XP compatability, but I haven't the slightest on how to set that up, I'm not computer illiterate but messing around with files to set up an OS are not my area.

virtual console? just go to properties of the exe and youll see a compatibility tab from where you can choose run in compatibility mode with xp

Attempted in Windows 95, 98, XP packs 2 and 3, Vista, and 7. All crashed shortly after starting. Troubleshooter says it's compatability mode is Windows XP pack 3, and from there it crashes upon startup

He can't if I understand his situation; he has the original disks from 15 years ago, but to use beta he needs to have bought Majesty HD.

The original disks are separate from the Steam Majesty, but frankly, since the disks are so old and predate modern OSes, it may not run now; that's why HD came out in the first place.

I actually have the original disks myself, if I remember, I'll try to dig them up and go through the install to see what happens.

I used to have the disks, so if I'm missing files I'd have to download them from somewhere. Military life is not kind to posessions. I'm amazed I had them for 5 of the 9 moves

try running it as administrator and disable antiviruses if you have any

some stuff i saw online (this was for the steam gold version though) included deleting the whole music folder (just move it to somewhere else to see what happens) and also setting the core affinity of the majesty process to just one processor but im not sure if the game even starts for you, if it doesnt then you probably cant do that

Disks should have all of the files. The only thing that you may need is the latest patch (1.2?) which should be somewhere on the web, if you ever get it to run.

Still refuses to load. Perhaps it's just time to actually buy the game again :/

I missed this was the original Gold - I have the original separate disks of Majesty and Northern Expansion. So I can't help by installing my stuff...

Actually if you have the filetree for Northern Expansion I can do it checklist style and see if I've lost any files ofter the 15(ish) years. And worst case scenario I'd be appreciative if we could work out a dropbox/ Fileshare if that would fix it.
