Also Majesty HD if you want more of the same. Older game but it did things better IMO
It`s a shame that this strategy genre hasn`t been more exploited, since it`s a really attractive concept to sit back and watch your lowly minions do all the dirty work while you can relax and give orders. Especially when you consider just how acclaimed Dungeon Keeper actually was when it released you`d think making more games around the same idea would be a interesting to more gaming companies. Guess it`s considered a niche genre like all the other good genres we used to have. Let`s just release another 500 first person shooters!
Unfortunately what made the Majesty game originally so addictive is random map generation. Albeit Majest 2 really expounded on a lot of the game mechanics, they also made it less sandboxy.
So if you haven't already, and can deal ith early 2000s graphics, I'd definitely recommend Majesty HD. There's also Dwarfortress and Gnomoria. It's not entirely the same but you are still dealing with characters with a sense of individuality. Maybe less in gnomoria. But if you get one of the mods with added tilesets for DwarfFortress it can be pretty fun. Though incredibly hard at times.
My only other game to suggest that no one else has is skyward collapse, it's a bit different in gameplay though to majesty series. More of a god game, where you manipulate things, very fun none the less I've found.
Gnomoria is a cool game with the slowest dev cycle ever, it's killing me.
