High resolution cutscenes are possible!
If you have a legal copy of the game that contains the cutscenes in a higher quality, you can extract the game.cub and convert all the ogv files to the webm format. After that is done, just put them in the game folder where the splash screen is also stored. Make sure the filenames are the same as the ones of the Steam version.

I even upscaled the outro with AI and can actually watch it in-game.

That's interesting. If we have only the Steam copy, does your process work? What do you mean by "extract" the game.cub exactly?

It should work with the Steam version, but since the cutscenes are of poor quality, upscaling might not give good results.

To extract cub files, use QuickBMS by Luigi Auriemma and download the script for Artifex Mundi files.

Thanks for the info. I probably won't bother, but it could be useful for someone else.

I feel it worth noting too that, should you own the GOG version of the game which was released with enhanced HD cutscenes, all you need to do is copy that version of the game's game.cub file and replace the one in the Steam version's directory.

We're given low quality cutscenes compared to GoG version? That's disappointing...
That's crazy that the GOG version has better cutscenes than the Steam version !

Please devs, since they exist, put them on Steam too !!!
