Escorts
So my understanding of the escort quests is that they have a random chance of spawning in various dungeons, up to a max of 9(?).

My question is - if you fail an escort quest (usually due to being surrounded by enemies as you pick up the quest, and the npc dies before you can kill everything) will you get a chance at that quest later, or are you S.O.L.? (without scumming your save)

no chance again when escort dies it is over. it is not that big deal they are all nice but you can finish the game without escorts.

Any way to make them act...less suicidal? Having them die from a rat while I'm figthing 20+ wolf because they just decide to wander around on there own is pretty annoying.

tell them to wait, or else position yourself very carefully to block them off.

You can tell them to wait by clicking on them, then select Give Order. This way you can also make them tell you where the portal in, so that you can more easily except or block their movement.

That doesnt help against starting in a room full of terrible enemies though, you just have to accept that you cant save everyone. :)

Telling them to wait doesn't help that much - they often choose to ignore it saying something like "there is no time to wait" and running into the monsters. Otherwise try to block their movements in narrow passages until you kill all the nearby enemies.

You can only order them once to wait. They do try to run away from monsters they see or at least keep a distance.

Heh, I seem to get the suicidal ones that charge headlong into packs. FOR SPARTA!

For me they sometimes run away... but they run from some rat or worms right into the pack of trolls, skeleton mages or whatever elite they find.
