Berserkers and breathing underwater
I've come to the infamous Sher'tul fortress, at the south of the Lake of Nur. What are some methods by which I can get my tank to breathe underwater in order to explore it?

If you've just gotten there you should move along and come back. Come back more prepared; by that time you will have found a way to enter the fortress.

If you're playing roguelike take this warning very seriously.

You don't really need water breathing equipment. You can just skip turns while on an air bubble square to refill your breathe meter. Riskier that way, of course.

There is plenty of air in the Lake of Nur. Just numpad 5 (or click on your icon) to wait a turn on an air bubble.

This isn't the Underwater Cave in the East or anything, it's Nur. I've never drowned in Nur. You go in, try to kill one electric eel (because alchemy quest ingredient, good to have on hand), and immediately search for the stairs down. One of only four dungeons I advise booking it and not taking a scenic route with "z" autoexplore (others being caldera, oozemaster, and the other underwater area in the East).

If its your first time in that lake i would recomend looking through the shops in town. A lot of gear like helmets and armor can have the ability to make you breathe underwater witch makes it easier. But you can easily do it without that gear if you go from airbubble to airbubble and dont clear everything.

I spent a couple hundred turns looking all over the lake but I didn't see a single air bubble anywhere. Are they visible or do you have to mouse over a space to see?

On the surface there aren't any bubbles, you need to hop from island to island until you get to the very south. There you will find a structure. Enter it. Inside you'll have bubbles to replenish your air meter. (they aren't infinite though.)

"Enter it" means enter the underwater dungeon. This wasnt clear to me at first.

It's also worth mentioning that becoming undead lets you ignore drowning too.
It's very rare to find equipment with that trait though.

not really, if you search every town i find that the belt that gives undead is fairly common.

Yeah, I think that is done on purpose.

I still haven't found any breathing underwater equipment, but I managed to get through the fortress quest without it. Just use the little sand outcrops in the lake to help you breathe until you get down a level, then there are air bubbles you can use. Then once you get past that level no more water.
