About the Doombringer and his hammer

The first few times I started the Doombringer, I always got his hammer right in the Fearscape, so I assumed it was part of his lore. But the last few times, it didn't drop at all. Did I trigger some flags by accident that it dropped all the time then or is it pure random chance?

Theres some zone-specific artifacts that will drop more frequently, or exclusively in certain areas.

I'm not 100% which one in question it is, but it probally is one of those artifcats.

That kinda sounds like you're talking about Tirakai's Maul. That's just a standard world artifact that can drop anywhere, but it did seem to have an oddly high droprate in the starter Ashes zone. Perhaps just a quirk of the level ranges, so no, it's not guaranteed. The only artifacts you are likely to see more often are the Imp Claw and Planar Beacon, as they're a boss drop there.

Ok, so that's how it is. I kind of assumed that the doombringer's real name was Tirakai and that he was a mighty warrior, before he got abducted by the Sher'Thul.
