Heavy Armor dwarf Archer ?

So is this viable ?
Playing without the stealth tree?

Probably no point equipping heavy body armor for an archer -- you lose not only stealth options but also most of the mobility tree.
You can go shield+sling, but at that point it is probably better to just play skirmisher.

If anything, stacking armor is probably easier with light body armor, heavy gloves/boots/helm and armor of shadows as a prodigy.

Hmm, that sounds familiar… [sound F/X: searching] yeah, there's a discussion[forums.te4.org] of a build like that over on the te4.org forums; it's a few years old and a couple versions out of date, but you might be able to make something out of it.

Yes. It works (or at least, worked recently) quite well with unlocking the other locked tree. Forgot it's name, but it's the one which uses sling and shield. The discussion mentioned above is quite good, as is that forum in general.
