Tales of Maj'Eyal

Tales of Maj'Eyal

Is there any shame in using Exploration mode to unlock things?
I want to unlock Ogres, but that means playing as shalore, and I keep getting slaughtered in the very first dungeon. Should I keep trying to make it in adventure mode, or is it ok to use exploration mode? I don't enjoy feeling like I'm cheating, but I'm getting frustrated starting the same character over and over.

lol, you're talking about shame and "cheating" for using exploration mode to unlock stuff, while I just downloaded an add-on that just unlocked everything. I must have a "scarlet letter" branded on my forehead for that. OH, THE SHAME!!!!!!

I've been playing since Tales of Middle Earth. Don't @ me.
Wiil do! Shame on you, you rascal! :))))
That said, many unlocks are interesting to do in their own right. I remember some guy asked some months ago how to remove all unlocks so he could unlock them all again! :))

Unlocks are certainly one thing I love about this game, they give you something to work for besides just beating the campaign.

Progress does carry over - if you don't lose your Steam account. Stopping playing for some years may do that ;) - especially if a computer is also changed during this time.
Brawlers are great fun, yes. The grappler build is considered somewhat stronger, but I had more fun with Bruce Lee-like guy jumping around.
Temporal Wardens are somewhat complicated - but they combine VERY high mobility with quite strong attacks. And they are less complicated than some other classes including most pure mages. Plus, they can shoot up melee enemies and dice up shooters/mages. :)) And if silenced, they can just run away till it ends. While shooting at enraged Oozemancer. ;)
Mindslayers are also good, but I think them somewhat more complicated. You need to remember that some of your strongest (at least at start) attacks and strongest defences come from deliberately turning off specific sustains. And some abilities require you to learn some skills to specific levels. Sometimes I just forget about these tricks and suffer. ;) Still, on Normal they are pretty strong. You may even try the trick I love to use at mid-game with them: find 2 bows or slings, some goodish ammo - and just shoot away at any opponent, screaming: "I'm actually Gunslinger!!" :))) Be warned, this stops working by endgame, as you'd lack Mastery in bows.. On the plus side, psionics can't be silenced. And these guys are also mobile and may hit hard.
What I wouldn't recommend for now are Wyrmics and Possessors. The first is somewhat weaker while the latter is the most complex class in the whole game - due to often being able to use in limited way abilities of any other, plus its own weird interacting mechanics.

I didn't play for 3 years (Back in 1.4.X) and I still have all my unlocks and progress, even the character vault, I even changed computer, so there's that, so yeah dont worry about lost progress, its always there aslong as you have the steam profile connected.

You can also work on the 1700 achievements, hehe.

And more are added with game updates and new DLCs. :))
Plus, there is figuring out of new mod classes. And playing Infinite Dungeon trying to do max quests. Honestly, I now mostly play main campaign when something majorly changes with updates. Achievements at least provide something to do in it.
I think nobody mentioned that if you struggle with Shalore starting dungeon you can just leave it and do Trollmire instead.
Also if you struggle with specifically Shalore then you are likely not using shielding runes correctly and ogres also start with runes so it's probably better to just practice.

My Tier 1 Always Look like this:

Special Starting Dungeon > Norgo's > Troll Mire (All the way) > Kor'pul > Caves > Camp > Derth Arena > Lumberjack > Merchant

My Tier 2 Always Look like this:

Maze > Worm > Old Forest > Daikara > Hidden Compound > Complex

My Tier 3 is based on resistances on gear and class/race combo:

Spellblaze (Blight) Tempest Peak (Lightning) Lake of Nur (Breathing/Undead) based on resistances.

Ruined Dungeon > Old Conclave Vault (If I found the spawn) > I usually Skip Dogroth > Last Hope Graveyard (Go inside at level 15 to force level) > Dreadfell > Orc Mines > East > Jadda jadda jadda win the game.
