Brawler with Leather Gloves

Is there any reason to use leather gloves on a Brawler? Unless my math is off, despite the 25% increase in your attack speed, the gap in weapon damage would still make it a DPT loss. It might be good if the Brawler had a lot of on-hit effects you could capitalize on.

Generally you care less about the glove type and more about what procs it has (Good ones for randarts are Disarm, Cripple, Dominate)

Ignoring the procs, the attack speed is always, always worth the minutely lower damage unless we're talking comparing t1 leather gloves to a t4(t5) gauntlet. Assuming equal tier between the two, the damage difference is somewhere along 5%~ generally, so the 25% attack speed clearly triumphs it.

Even if the damage per turn was worse I think I'd still favour the faster attack speed because you get more combo points, more chances to proc effects, more combat abilities activated per turn.

As above. With only caveat that some opponents may have damage resistance or armor where your damage on them becomes negligible. In which case you may need to replace gloves with gauntlets - but this is rare except possibly starting levels.
