Overall, it's a pretty lackluster tree, and I'd recommend staying away from it unless you specifically build for it.
EDIT: Apparently I read the description for raze wrong, because it's extra darkness damage every time you deal damage rather than just on weapon attacks. In that case, a staff wyrmic who boosts darkness damage and wears the elemental fury ring could do incredibly well with 8 separate darkness damage procs each attack that get the staff accuracy bonus. Combine that with skills like ice claw/wing buffet/dissolve and you could easily melt crowds and individual mobs on normal.
it has nothing to do with balance, but everything to do with how everything undead-related being arcane powered.
specaily it you use your mind to carry a second staff for even more damage.....
