first ever win (doomed), and i'm confused
I just won the game for the first time! Here's the report: Anayna[te4.org]

Anyway, I'm a bit perplexed. Are doomed really strong? Once I reached my 30s, I suddenly realized I was basically unkillable. I'm not quite sure why. My other characters that got that high certainly weren't. They felt competent, but not nigh-unstoppable, like my doomed did. I did put a higher priority on hp regen and healing factor this time, but how much difference does that really make? I went from the final bosses treating me like a rat in trollmire to me beating them down like a couple random rares. I don't think I even bothered healing. My other two characters to hit the final boss were alchemist and writhing one, and they just got blown to pieces. I'd like to repeat this success for the next character I play (feeling like a writhing one redux), but I'm not sure what happened. Any ideas? Is HP regen/healing factor the key to winning?

Just for background, this is the first doomed I've played. I've got some alchemist experience under my belt, but the writhing one was pretty new to me. I followed reputable guides for the failed characters, but basically just looked up a build in the character vault for the doomed and tossed points where I thought they'd be useful.

That's the end of my confusion. Below are just some thoughts on doomed, in general.

Shadows and darkness seem to be a big part of being doomed. I didn't actually find them all that great. I barely ever used darkness, and the shadows had such ADHD that I couldn't rely on them at all, ESPECIALLY in long hallways. Seems like they only obeyed my Focus Shadows command around 5-10% of the time. Otherwise, they just wander around aimlessly. If they happen to get hit or randomly smack an enemy, they seem to randomly decide whether to stay and fight or wander off in the other direction. Next time, I'll probably give the Advanced Shadowmancy tree a shot, instead of Fear (which I didn't use) to see if they're any better with Shadow's Path. I don't hold out much hope, though.

Curse of Nightmares is REALLY cool, especially if you can't die. :D Just run into some enemies, get beat on, and watch as the room fills up with nightmares. Watch out for inner demons, though. >.< On the final boss, there was a point where each of the bosses was completely surrounded with a 5-block thick solid wall of nightmares, and that left me giggling like a madman. Some people probably don't like the Cursed Aura tree much, but I loved it.

I ended up playing most of the latter half of the game as melee. I think my killing blow on the final boss was just a bump attack. Cryomancers and Pyromancers were really annoying, though. Not having any good mobility talents really hurts (darkness doesn't count), and they always seemed out of range of my abilities. Movement infusions are essential. I did manage to pick up tinkering, so I tried Spring Grapple, but couldn't justify swapping something out for a Steam Generator (especially with so few points in tinkering), so it didn't get much use.

That brings me to generic points. Antimagic doomed need a TON of generic points. I ended up with 10 generic trees, all of which had points, and all of which were useful. I could have double the generic points and still feel like it wasn't enough. This is a far cry from my alchemist, who I was scratching my head through the whole game trying to find something useful to invest in. Of course, going antimagic just exacerbated the problem, but if you're going to play a doomed, you need to plan your generics carefully. Class points, not so much: Punishments and Force of Will are great. Do whatever you like with the rest.

Anyway, that's my experience playing doomed and winning, for the first time. Would love to know what you all think.

If you build your hero well.
Lvl 30 will see a huge boon from prodigy.

Doom bringer really deal huge damage and good survival late game.

Congratulation. However i think you winned a run with the easiest character (where almost all normal player win with DB too.)

At least, now you can start try other class. Doomed quite powerful as well

This win was a Doomed, not a Doombringer. I did try Doombringer. Didn't make it nearly as far, but that was a while ago. Thanks, anyway, for confirming that Doomed is ez-mode, though.
