Couldn't resist.
The idea here is that you know how to play your character much, MUCH better than the AI does. Some specific classes have significant issues here, I'm told, but usually this just isn't all that hard. Perhaps your temporal hounds complicate the issues, since your clone gets them, as well?
If you have a way to fire off a preemptive stun or confuse, that might let you survive, next time...
Either way my insane run ended right at the end of the game. Read one of those tomes like an idiot and wasted 4 lives just trying to escape it. Thought for sure I'd get my first insane win.
If you want to be super safe, just run away as soon as he uses the ability, and come back.
