Forbidden tomes?
So i just went through a huge part of the game and still found none of these. How are they found?

It seems like they don't drop for anti-magic types - or at least that was my experience. I just completed an Oozemancer playthrough without a single sighting, but the previous Writhing One, Wyrmic, and Alchemist runs I've messed around with since the expansion all had found a couple. I have yet to find one below level 20, so either that's just a fluke in my admittedly tiny sample, or they just don't drop before then.

Just ran through the game twice. not a single tome/

same, haven't found a single one and I've had forbidden cults since it came out. Ran at least 7 guys by now.

Do not finish the game for the tome.
Developer patch notes stated they increase the level range for the tomb to spawn.

Means, level too high this tome impossible to spawn.
I will abandon my game at level 31 if fail to unlock

What an absolutely a$$onine system that makes absolutely no sense. Force people to play multiple characters but never complete the campaign just to unlock the classes/races they should automatically get with the new xpac. Just so stupid.

This is why more people do not play this game. Because of a$$onine policies like this one that clearly demonstrate a lack of innovation and trust in their userbase on the part of the developers.

If it really bothers you not playing the new class immediately you can use the mod Ignore Race/Class Locks, it's in the the steam workshop or from the website.

Thank you for the tip, but enabling a cheat mod to accomplish what should have been enabled by default pretty much defeats the purpose of the xpac and discourages people from playing the game in the first place. This whole thing stinks of the oriental exp grind strategy in several mmorpg's of the recent past. Its a cheap and inefective methodology to "hook" suckers into playing extended hours just in the hopes of finding that 1 in a million RNG drop. Its just sick that DG has resorted to such disgusting tactics in Cults. As if Tome needs such dishonorable tactics from his already slavish playerbase to keep playing this free game. Sick.

i think you're blowing it out of proportion, it's not like literally all of the unlockable content is gated behind the forbidden tomes. just the cultist of entropy class.

i actually like the unlockable system, this is the only instance it's annoyed me with how gated these tomes are. comparing it to a chinese MMO is a massive stretch.

more people don't play this game because it's complex for a lot of people, not because unlocking the cultist class in the latest dlc is a slog.

It's been how long since the xpac was released?.. I still haven't come across this unlockable. The chance to find must be what like .00000001%?

No, it really is true that more people don't play this game exactly because of nonsense like this. This game has a miniscule playerbase and that is not likely to ever change, so why bother with unlockables at all beyond a certain point? I do get the concept and I do actually like it, but there has to be a limit.

Pathetic casuals.

It's not that rare. My last three characters all found The Day it Came before level 30. One of them was on the orc campaign, bought it from the giant's shop.

Are you sure that you are looking in your inventory? You have to pick the book up and read it, then complete the little quest thing. The book by default goes into your chest so if you aren't paying attention I guess you might accidentally trasmutate it.

The only book that seems rare is Of Knowledge and Horrors (I think that's what it is called), and most people don't want to read that one!

I think the drop rate for unique is higher on higher difficulty.
