Favourite Class(es)?
Apparently there isn't a particularly actice discussion of favorite classes on Steam right now (according to my roughly five seconds of searching).

So, I'm curious, what's your favourite class? Or, favourite that you've unlocked so far, for those of us that haven't unlocked every single class yet. Feel free to mention ones you think are interesting even though you don't like them, too.

For me, in practice, the nigh-unkillable Paradox Mage is my favourite, though I prefer Anorithil and Archmages on paper.

...And yes, I know that Steam Discussion pages are pretty much exclusively "How the Hell are you supposed to do X?" but that's boring.

Well.. I like to control all battlefield, so i pref a mages as main character. Plus i like when i have many buttons, don't like passives.
______

Paradox Mage - one love. I like hes concept and Paradox resource. Gameplay around anomiles is pretty fun. Ana yeah: hes very comfortable class cos have mobility, control, save-buttons, and over9000 utility. To be hoenst i got a spoiler from Steam community about Paradox mage - this is how i started to play in ToME.

Psyshot - this is awesome hubrid class. I really like this class cos u have a differents builds: pure range, pure melee, pure caster (aka psionic "mage") and standart range+melee+caster. This class is really fun cos u have range dmg, melee dmg, utility and mobility, and really good AoE dmg - that's all without any magic. That's awesome. Very interesting and strong class with high replayability.

Cultist of Entropy - i just have no words. This class is amazing! Already have Insane win as Cultist (but with a save scum a bit, cos i found some bugs in Cultist's mechanics), and want to play again and again. Replayability is over9000. That could be my favorite class, but i have Paradox Mage already :(

Solipsist - another class with awesome concept and who have many different builds and high replayability. Want to get a win as pure Sleep build in future, but that will be a very long game, i'm not ready for this (said guy who have over 1.5k hours lol).
______
Oozemancer - i like hes concept, especialy Mitos and abilities around ooze, but hes gameplay is boring as fck. This beams spamming make me cry :(

Rogue - i found poisons+bleeds+projection ego+hpregen build is really fun and strong. In other it's a classic rogue, no more.

Demonologist - don't like classes with shields but demonologist is fun: many debuffs (i like it), and many fun mechanics like Link of Pain, Spellblaze tree etc. Haven't win on Insane cos i got a random death from Titanic shield (i was with really good shield with different elemental resists, tried to swap for Titanic cos the last one have more block rate, and then i got one shot from blight magic: Titanic is a pure physical shield. He can't block other dmg types. What a stupid death...).

Paradoxy Sawbutcher (sawbutcher+PM+TW) - is fun adventurer build around Overclocked Radius x2. (really fun but hard to play without Exploration mod cos u WILL get high paradox numbers after 2-3 hits, which will make a major anomaly. Major anomalies ever 2-3 hits. orly? But it's fun)

Cultist of Paradox (Cultist+PM)- another aventurer build and my new favorite "class" :)
So many fun combos and synergy, fun gameplay and really high replayability.

Have to agree with Fabi here : chronomancers are both fun to play and efficient. Paradox mage is my goto class. Can't say anything about cultist as, welll...

As, well, don't have the new DLC yet? And if you haven't yet, you should really give the Anorithil a shot, they've got fun AoE and sustains and such. While I've already said I do love Paradox Mages above all else, Anorithils are fun, when they work. Not as fun as Paradox Mages, but still fun.

Berserker with some teleport. Jump in, cause havoc teleport out. Repeat

Avoiding 'adventurer', my favorites are (in no particular order) Sawbutcher, Doomed, Cursed, Alchemist (BOOM), Demonologist, and Cultist. I'm still learning cultist, but I love the aoe debuffing and dotting.

I love Alchemists and, moreso, "Alchventurers". Not that they're all that strong (they aren't), they just somehow tickle my fancy.

#1 Doomed, it clicks with me the most, I love the abilities and the class concept :)
#2 All defilers pretty much.
#3 Mindstar Wyrmic - heavy armoured lightsaber wielding halfling dragon cultists are fun
#4 Solipsist, not for gameplay but for class concept and Dreamforge.
#5 Temporal Warden. If only it didn't tank the framerate after a while...

Alchemists may be made of squish, but far too many enemies make the foolish mistake of fighting in narrow areas where one high level bomb will wipe them all out instantly.

My last alchemist was a monstrosity once he finished the bombthrowing tree. GETTING there was a PITA though.

I will admit, the idea of a sleepwizard is a lovely idea, and the Defilers to tend to be fairly fun. Particularly the Corruptor; who doesn't wanna go around killing people with plagues and blood and bones, like some sort of embodiment of physical ailment?
Cornix May 29, 2018 @ 1:20am
My baby is the Doombringer. I'm almost exclusively playing infinite dungeon and Doombringer fits my style perfectly. Hyper agressive, lots of utility, aoe, mobility, sustain...it's just great. Only sad thing is, there is no easy way to get staff mastery in ID, so I have to go down the weapon path every game.
Hey May 29, 2018 @ 4:51am
My favorites are :
1. Paradox Mage
Attenuate and immunity from manaclash are insane. Cease to Exist makes resistance irrelevant and helps quicken the attenuation. Immunity to stun, death denial (Temporal Reprieve), and lots of control make this class.. insane.
2. Rogue
What is roguelike without rogue? It's fun to go semi brawler with Hidden Blades, triggering fancy effects from Dakthun or Spellhunt Remnants. Gravitic Trap, Dragonfire Trap and Beam Trap make orc ambush after dreadfell a joke XD. Quickdraw proc increase bump dmg a lot. Dmg reduction and action failure from poisons make bump attack less worrisome. Overall, a good class if one knows how to use it.
3. Demonologist
I love collecting demons. It's like tinker, but simpler and more devastating in some ways. Fiery Cleansing is awesome, Osmosis Shield + ring demons increase tankiness greatly, Link of Pain destroys insane randboss gank, etc.
4. Doomed
My first arena winner. Shadows are quite OP after few talent points. Just tell your shadow to encircle a target, hide somewhere, poof, the target is no more. Gesture is fun with mind dmg enhancing mindstars. Cursed equipment sets are hit-miss, but still fun to collect.
5. Solipsist
Their damage fall off endgame, but quite fun once you get Mnemonic and Crimson Robe. With some addons and Windtouched Speed, they can reach 200+% global speed, which is insane XD
6. Gunslinger
My only Nightmare winner :') . So proud of her.

Alchemist(big bombs and golems), Necromancer(minion hordes and lichdom), Wyrmic(eating blade horrors, breathing all kinds of things), Doombringer(maximal aggression), Paradox Mage(all-around excellent kit), Temporal Warden(teleporting everywhere killing everything), Solipsist(sleepy mage), Possessor(I am a menagerie of monsters).

For Alchemist, Necromancer and Wyrmic, it's more the concept than the execution I like. Alchemists are quite vulnerable, Necromancers are just awkward and Wyrmic breath builds don't do all that well.

I knoooow, Alchemists are such a great idea but just don't seem like they're as resilient as something with a magical bodyguard should be, and Wyrmics are a FANTASTIC idea... But then you actually play them, and it feels less like breathing fire, and more like coughing up smoke into their faces.

I like builds that go into absurdity. Steamgunners look at the world, and go "I'm killing one of us..."

No mods, I've hit a final boss, resistances and armors and all, for over 20k in one action with the steamgunner. Which is also what I would hit myself for were I dragged into the shot. The high risk high reward is quite fun in a roguelike.

Making a demonologist or a sunpaladin that just slowly realizes that they are immortal is also fun to me. Going to the other far extreme, I had a demonologist kill the final bosses with passive damage because lua errors prevented me from acting, that's how resiliant they are when built to the logical extreme. The middle ground is boring. Go wild!

Essentially unkillable monstrosities are the best builds. Not just because the game gets easier if you're unkillable, if anything that's the downside... The reason they're the best is that it's just so comical to watch something that would have already killed you with any other build fail to even bring you anywhere close to death.
