to say the game has scaling is not entirely accurate.

each dungeon and encounter has a level range. they will not scale below a certain point, nor will they scale above their max.

really, it wouldent be hard to mod those ranges to be a lot smaller.

And really you get more powerful the more you level/higher weapons, better skills, passives. So yes leveling is a thing and has a point.

Remember, higher-level enemies also mean more XP and more/better loot. But to answer your question directly, you can mod the game pretty much any way you like, and/or there are a LOT of mods available boith here on Steam and on the main site (https://te4.org/). Mods can range from super-cheaty to simple QoL enhancements to adding classes/races to {?}, so you are NOT stuck with the "vanilla" game in any way.

Remember, also, that there are several difficulty levels and respawn types, from infinite lives/"Explorer" to "pure" roguelike 1-life-is-all-you-get (barring special items)/Insane. So if you want a "cakewalk", so to speak, it's available whenever you like. Additionally, you can "set" the level range of a given area by simply entering and leaving immediately (with some exceptions; this is NOT always possible, later in the game); this can be a useful tool for making some difficult areas of the game significantly easier.

You can set the level range of a singular level of said zone, not the entire zone.

I took a look around and could not find mods for my kind of rougelike....truth be told my kind of play is more of a rougelite.
I was looking for mods that could make the game play like pokemon mystery dungeon games with respawning enemies and areas haveing set levels.

So MAKE one. I'll also note that "roguelike" games do not generally share the "Pokemon Mystery Dungeon" ethos, nor is ToME advertised as a "rougelite" offering at all.

I suggest playing the free version of the game for a while, before (re)purchase. That way, you can decide *after* you know if you like the game in its current form.

No, I mean make a mod. Where do you think the REST of the mods came from, silly?

Additionally, in the comment you quoted I meant specifically "play the free version for a while and see if you like it", nothing more, nothing less, exactly as I said.

It's not so difficult to learn modding. Simply download some mods and open them in a text editor.

Quick Tome zone overhaul removes level scaling, among other things.
mjkittredge Apr 4, 2018 @ 6:18pm
A few zones do have infinite or at least large amounts of respawning creatures. The Sludgenest can generate hundreds if not thousands of monsters. Then there's the invasion portals in the Prides, with Naloren or Demons coming through nonstop. There are the Patrols, which are infinite. Also farportal zones can be infinite although once you run out of energy and have completed the zones in the game, grinding for more energy can be tedious. Then there's the infinite dungeon, and as the name suggests...
