Do the <10s first (starting with the usual, slightly easier ones like Trollmire), then the <20s (keeping Daikara and the Fortress for last), then Dreadfell.
I mean you probably did that anyhow, but now there's a clear benefit to that order.
1. Trollmire and Norgos Lair interchangeable.
2. Scintillating Caves
3. Ruins of Kor'Pul
4. Heart of the Gloom
5. Rhaloren Camp
6. Maze and Old Forest - clearing the one with lower level mobs first.
7. Lumberjack Village and Unknown Tunnels (can do it earlier if I feel tanky - the assassin boss hurts quite a bit more than before I think).
8. If level 20: I take inscription and teleportation rune for much needed quality of life Sandworm Lair. If not lvl 20, then Daikara first.
9. Daikara and Hidden Compound interchangeable.
10. Halfling ruins
11. Temporal Rift
12. Derth / Storming the city questline.
13. Lake Nur and/or first few levels of Dreadfell if I can't beat Weirdling Beast at the end of Nur.
14. Mark of Spellblaze or Last Hope Graveyard interchangable
15. The rest of Dreadfall
Interesting. Nightmare actually sounds like order matters (as it should I suppose). Playing roguelike normal I went straight from Trollmire to the Lumberjack village and then cleared the Ruins. Now half the others that you suggested doing earlier I get told "this level seems to easy for you" or words to that effect and asks if I want to skip them.
Edit to add: it sort of interferes with the immersion when I get told crap like that. I didn't know playing on 'normal' rougelike was 'easy' but don't shove it in my face. Let me realise organically that these particular levels are easy. Anyway, after reading your post I think I'll abandon my current character and go nightmare. Thanks for your post btw. Much appreciated.
