Problem with gamma that affects my monitor even after I exit the game.
Sometimes the gamma of the game changes during the loading, or if I alt-tab the game often. The game gets very bright. When that happens I just alt-tab 1-2 more times and it goes back to the proper gamma.

However the real problem is that when I exit the game sometimes the screen will be really bright, which not only is annoying but it makes things hard to read and really burns my eyes.

I don't have any add-ons that would cause this, so the problem is in the game itself.

In my monitor menu my Gamma is set to 0 by default. And it shows as 0 even after the game turns the entire screen super-bright after exiting.

The only way to fix the screen after when it goes bright after exiting ToME is to either enter-exit the game a few times until it goes back to normal, or to restart the PC (sometimes it stays bright even after restarting PC).

I'd really love to get some help with this. I love the game a lot but it's starting to drive me crazy with this.

EDIT: If I go to Catalyst Control Center > Color and click on "Reactivate AMD Color Controls" then it fixes the gamma and color instantly. So now this isn't too big of a deal, but it still sucks that I'll have to do it almost every time I exit ToME.

I hope dev manages to find a fix so this doesn't happen.

Are you using flux or any other tool that manages the computers visual settings?

Same problem, still no fix. Let's necro this.

Nvidia - same problem.
Can fix it from nvidia panel though.

I look at the web and found possible cause of this problem:

"The reason it happens is because the game is changing the gamma exponent of the display, instead of changing the gamma exponent of the Direct3D device it uses to render the game (one affects everything, the other affects only the game)."

This is likely the same problem affecting users in these other bug threads:

I would really like to see this get fixed.

Yeah I hope he will fix it too. It's so annoying I stopped playing the game.

I wonder what the dev is up to anyway, we haven't heard from him in quite some time. Guess he's working really hard on that Orc steampunk DLC or whatever it was supposed to be.

Currently he is on vacation, but before and after that he is busy working on the Orc campaign.

Bump this in a week or so when he is back and I will try to direct his attention to this again.

Bumping. Hopefully he'll take a look into it and find a fix.

Any updates on this ever getting fixed?

I think he's planning on including the fix in the next update, but that might take a while. I think he should just hotfix it asap instead.

It wasn't fixed in today's update.

Time to grab out pitchforks!
DarkGod  [developer] Nov 30, 2015 @ 3:23am
Pitchforks against a DarkGod that wields the powers of the Universe ? :)

On a more serious note I have a tentative fix in 1.3.3 which is being uploaded (to fix a nasty bug in 1.3.2 :/ ) right now.
I *think* it should fix it but I cant reproduce the problem on my machines so it's a bit of a guesswork ;)
