Guardian at the Sher'Tul Fortress Disappeared, Unable to Proceed

Hi, I'm playing a Temporal Warden, and went to the Sher'Tul Fortress to fight the guardian there to get in. It was a bit tougher than I expected (I've beaten the game several times before but not as a Temporal Warden) and I used the ability that goes through three possible futures and lets me pick one. Even after picking one, I was about to die so I fled back to the previous room. But then, after I rested, and went back to try a second attempt at fighting him, he was gone. I can't get him to re-appear, and the door to the fortress is locked. Is there anything I can do? Is this a bug?

It seems likely the chronomancy bugged it out, however do you have cloud saves enabled for ToME? They are disabled by default as they are known for breaking things (such as this).
