Best way to get gold?

I just bought stuff one place, and sold it where it was more expensive (check first!). Optionally with turning it into something else in between, like wheat ->flour->bread or something like that. (Been a while since I played.)

No instant riches, but slowly the gold got more.

The profit is 19 gold per sack of flour. When you have a decent amount of gold you can switch to buying poison from the thief in town and sell it to the hunter as described in the comments.
