Beyond that, there's a number of units with healing ability (such as priestesses of LA Arcoscephale), blood mages can cast Blood Feast to cure afflictions (with a malus of killing population from then on), Gift of Health ritual cures afflictions, as does The Chalice artifact. I believe there's also a magical site or two that can cure them, but they certainly aren't something you can count on.
I felt that mechanism for standard units was generating a lot too much micromanagement if you start bother with that. It's still a pain in the a... for some big units like mammoth, for example have a wound that make some very slow is a total garbage, but it's too much troubles to try manage it. For commander I saw there's items to lower chance to get wounds or providing luck, could worth use it I don't know.
For me that wound mechanism defeat the features of experience level of standard units, could be ok globally anyway, I just quote it defeat. I also gave up any idea of using special elite army having max experience, it's just pointless because of the wounds mechanism.
