Do invulnerable and ethereal stack?
How does it work? If my unit that has invulnerable ability is given an item that grants him ethereal ability, will these abilities stack? That is, units with mundane weapons have only 25% chance to hit him on successful attack roll, and after they do hit him, his invulnerability value is used in calculation of the protection roll? This is how I expect it to work, but I don't know for sure.

Also how does slash resistant or blunt resistant stack with invulnerability? Is damage halved after damage calculation using invulnerability value or after?

I just had a vampire join my nation, and I have a Robe of Shadows. Is it going to add another layer of protection for him against mundane weapons?

I don't believe Invulnerabality stacks with ethereal and neither does protection.

Well, I just had a battle with my vampire wearing Robe of Shadows.
From these screenshot you can see that they actually do stack. Although, judging from the info there, it seems that first damage is calculated on successful attack roll using invulnerability value, and then, if there was any damage, it has to pass ethereal check.

Where are you getting this from? Ethereal means that any non-magical attack has a 75% chance of being negated. Invulnerability replaces your natural protection against non-magical attacks if it is higher. I don't see any reason these wouldn't stack, and I've used them together in many battles to good effect.

Regarding resistace, halving happens to the damage AFTER protection, so it tends to reduce damage to smaller amounts rather than stop it completely.

Sure they stack. They are different defensive abilities, the only thing they have in common is that both don't work vs magic weapons.

All right. Good to know. Thank you.

Yeah, it's important point to keep in mind. I just can't forge a good alternative for him yet.
Don't forge a 10+ pearl item for a vampire so he can hit things, you'll lose the items and be sad the instant someone points a mage in his general direction. It's a bad unit that at best provides you with a flying immortal leader.

They're great at spamming hordes of undead during battles, though.

That would be vampire lords.

Vampire lords are amazing, and vampires as units are quite good, but a basic vampire commander is pretty much a guy that can lead flying suicide attacks in your own dominion.
