Using rituals to search for magic sites
So I started playing a week ago and I am quickly growing fond of this game. After getting anooyed by having to wander around searching for sites I found out that in Thaumaturgy I can search for magic sites without having to have mages wander about. The only problem is that the only rituals I have found are Haruspex, Augary and Blood Bowl.

Can someone point me in the direction of the other search rituals? I really don't want to read through every spell to try and find these specific rituals :)

Use the Dom4 inspector http://larzm42.github.io/dom4inspector/
Death has D1, Conj3: Dark Knowledge
Air has A2, Thau4: Auspex
Water has W2, Conj4: Voice of Apsu
Earth has E2, Thau4: Gnome Lore
Voice of Tiamat and Acashic Knowledge reveal multiple paths.

Unfortunately for pretty much any school besides astral it's just about always way more efficient to sitesearch manually. Well Voice of Tiamat is also worth casting, but that's only for UW provinces. And I suppose there are also niche cases like provinces your manual site searchers can't reach/enter and not wanting to stall your gem economy progression while being invaded(aka it's not safe for your sitesearchers to be walking around).

something like 65% if memory serves of magic sites can be found by a mage with 1 in a path for non-astral paths and with 2 in the path I think that jumps to something like 80%. SO that mage with E2F1W1 is basically doing the equivalent of ~2.1 remote sitesearches for 0 gems each time he searches manually. Accounting for the need to move every turn the manual sitesearcher is still basically doing 1.05 free remote site searches per turn on average. And if you're a nation with big diversity mages(ones with 4-6 paths all low) like T'ien 'Chi that comparison gets even more lopsided in favor of manual sitesearching.

Overall though these rituals are only for if you are willing to sacrifice efficiency to put in less effort- which to be fair a lot of people are; just thought I'd mention it though.

It can also be good to search 3+ sites a turn with low ranked mages..usually i turn some of my research mages over to this duty.

I also usually make it a priority to hit Akashic Knowledge asap to search throne sites.

Search throne sites?

It's never worth waiting for acashic to search throne sites, nor prioritizing Conj6 over more valuable early game research in Evocation/Alteration. In fact, I can't say acashic is ever worthwhile given the massive cost, in valuable pearls no less.

Gotta cast my vote for Akashic being too expensive and coming out too late to be a high priority. Not terrible for breaking into new paths late game if you somehow have more pearls then you know what to do with. But a niche tool rather then a priority one I'd say.

Thrones have a higher chance for sites. To a lesser extend so do Swamps, Wastes and Mountains. Farms on the other hand have a lower chance of sites.

When i asked I was playing as early age Mictlan, and was casting blood bowl regularly. Had good blood slave income so it did not bother me much. But it was a large map, and i quickly saw that Haruspex and Augury would be too expensive to cast continously. I guess it's a matter of cost vs reward. Didn't know that the highest level mage necessary for searching was level 4 tho. I thought it went up to level 9. Now i know :)
