You ask what people hate and give them a list of what you naturally expect them they shoulfd hate ...
You have the best expectations to be a "modern" journalist or politician 8-)

Well its everything around (death-)cursed and horror-marked and that global thing with the darkness.

Hahaha I'm bored and have no good ideas for a thread, also add being sick in a free day, bad combination, hopefuly not at the level of I didn't equip my pretender before a indy province...hilarity ensues.

Hell Power is one that I've found to hate fighting against. Not because of it making demons stronger, but rather from 'suicide' communions used to summon horrors to fight your army instead. So many horrors.

Illwinter, Wrath of God are also good ones to be considered a ♥♥♥♥ by your fellow players.

i once had multiple RoS knock out an army of 700 xibalban fliers. which was bad. what was worse, i had 15 guys in the back line with those scrolls that summon imps over and over. it was my whole strat. to make it worse, i didn't think my enemy was RoS cabable.

RoS is not my most hated spell. but that day, it sure was.

Yeah I remember massing a huge mage ball against Niefelheim, only to be hit by two cloaked RoS casters. That ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hurt.

It really depends on your nation though. Most giant nations can shrug it off. Elven nations can be hardy enough to survive a surprise RoS though not mutliple. Its the human and swarm nations that are royally ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Yeah its probably stones, that spell just outright destroys so many strategies and otherwise much more viable nations. There isnt much you can do about it either.

Otherwise its probably horror seed, because it seems like such fun but its practically useless in every way. Not only does it require high astral and blood, it also requires blood 9 and takes many turns to even work. Also when you kill the afflicted commanders/units a horror spawns which fights your troops.

Yeah, I really wish they would fix horror seed to be more viable. Rain of stones might need nerfing as well, but the jury is still out.
Speleothing Apr 14, 2017 @ 2:38pm
I don't think the jury is out on Rain of Stones, it's crazy OP, and ought to be a level higher and cost more gems.
shygamer Apr 14, 2017 @ 9:24pm
The reason I say the jury is still out is because there was a big debate thread on Desura and they had a poll and there was no consensus either way. Also, some really good players have said the spell is fine as is. Personally, I think it needs to be nerfed a little. I think the way I would fix it is make it cost 2 gems (200 fatigue) and move it to research level 8.

Really any battlefield-wide evocation spell can be really annoying. Things like a lone mage set to cast a huge fire evocation and then retreat can really ♥♥♥♥ you up.

It also matters whether you're talking about spells cast once by one mage, or a spell cast a bunch of times by a bunch of mages. Things like stellar cascade spam communions can devastate you en masse.

For me its gifts of heaven. YS can rush it so easily , but not all nations can actually deal with it.

RoS gets railed against by people who don't know how to counter it. It's certainly a strong spell, but not a be-all end-all. It makes single mage balls tough, and that's tough on people who only know how to single mage-ball.

I've used, and had used against me, wrathful skies, firestorm, EQ, astral tempest, backfield SCs, creeping doom, mass assassination, mass seduce, ritual gem-baiting, and various other claptrappery to defeat armies without equal or greater 'magepower' or force to use against them.

RoS gets more fame, and therefore people use it more, but it's not the only option that does that, or the earliest. It notably works decently against armies casting every mass buff in the history of everything, which is a simple tactic people use, which is also notably overpowered - that RoS traps are required to defeat armies scripted to 'be invincible' is a damning indictment of mass buffs, not one of RoS. If someone can script every buff spell, but not clear provinces with ritual speed movement or use vanguard groups, odds are good 'scripting every buff spell' is too powerful.

The game is supposed to be about reading your opponent, and using strategic movement to counter them, just like chess. That RoS traps exist isn't the problem - the problem is a meta that relies on massing big armies and using them like clubs and not expecting your enemy to counter that. Remove all counters to 'big club armies' and you end up with big mageball armies the game, where more mages/buffs always win, and then why even bother playing.
