Healers and Gift of Health spell, theoretically speaking, can heal you from the any affliction, no matter how worse, taken that reason of affliction was removed (for example, artifical eye will give you affliction and cannot be healed while you still posess the eye).
But serious affliction have low chance to heal, unfortunately. :( (Gift of Health will work eventually though).
Gift of Health, I'm assuming that's a ritual spell? I'll check it out.
I also just got a group of adventurers, and one of them is a healer that apparently heals afflictions of random guys in my army which is really cool. Would like to find some more mages like that.
Killing is not always work though. Chances is, anyone close to the place of death during battle will pick up and equip the item. Just as gnorf73 noticed. :)
No. Chances to get are reverse proportional to a distance to the victim. So for hero-hero melee, item will be picked by killer most probably, but for arrow hit or simple hero-soldier fight chances are not so big. And item can be lost altogether (same is true about any extra items - for example, if your hero have only one free slot, he will get only one item, even if opponent had seven).
Actually, it _is_ global enchantment. And ritual spell too, as all globals. :)
Shape changing into a form that doesn't have the slot will get rid of it. Transformation is probably your best bet for someone who isn't a native shapechanger. Unfortunately everyone has at least 1 misc slot, so you might still be SOL depending on the item.
Nope, the status 'cursed' stays with the unit no matter what happens throughout the game. See also horror marking. Normally 'cursed item' and the cursed status (brown pentagram) are not related, but in the case of the Knife of the Damned you get both.
Not sure if Dom4 has become smarter about units picking up cursed items after battle, but back in Dom3 I had a strike force of Eagle Kings equipped with Eyes of Aiming for precision t-strike spam. After a battle where one of them died his compatriot picked up the extra eye and blinded himself equipping it.
