Whisper of the House

Whisper of the House

Demo feedback
I like the idea behind this game, but unfortunately on controller it's extremely tedious to control. Taking items one at a time from the robot takes far too long, especially because its hitbox is so small. Half the time I picked up the robot instead! I got tired on the second house just because I had no idea how much more there was to unpack. Moving between rooms is also tedious, because again it's a small hitbox and I have to hold down a button to make the change. Pulling out an item in the wrong room means a long process of "walking" to the correct room.

I think someone else had some translation suggestions, and the one item that really confused me was the "slides", which turn out to be slippers! I assume your translator isn't a native English speaker, so you may need someone to do a proofread and make sure everything makes sense to native English speakers.

I agree with all of these comments. It's such a visually appealing game, but becomes annoying very quickly due to the tedious UI and movement between rooms. Traveling between rooms is also a chore - I suggest shortcut buttons to immediately warp from one room to another. Also, consider a temporary, on-screen storage? Moving multiple items from one room to another is particularly tedious. Also, it should not be so easy to pick up the robot when the player will almost always be trying to retrieve items from him.

Finally, rebinding will be critical. Holding the center mouse button down to pan the camera is not ideal and quickly causes hand discomfort. Overall, though, a cosy and very polished game. I will certainly buy it if the devs resolve these player experience issues.

Yep! Just played the demo. Supppper interested in the game and the art style but the game mechanics are not well designed. Its very difficult to actually move about the room and place things because the robot is in the way. One of the first rules of UI design is efficiency, and well.. this game does not have that. Why on earth would you make it so that you have to press and hold to enter a room AND have a button to toggle door close(?). What's the purpose of that? Why can't I just click on the room I want? And I think it would be a good idea to have difficulty settings for each house? Like if you decide to the house on easy mode then all the objects intended for that room are in the robot's box, but if you want to do a harder version with the objects spread out across the rooms you could! I don't particularly want to find which room the object is supposed to go in, I just expect the boxes are set up per room. Overall, very interested but man the UI needs some serious adjustment!
