Game broken

[Harkenstein]

I've played the game through as it seems - only problem being I cannot complete it. After I solved the semaphore riddle I came here to read walkthrough since even it notices me about "distinct metallic click" I found nothing opened. I was unsure whether I was checking wrong gate latch or whether I did something wrong but after reading walkthrough it just seems that it just doesn't work for me and couple of other have managed to bump into same problem. I don't know whether it relates to this same problem but in few occasions, while walking on the island, I have stepped on something that skyrocketed me high above the island soon to be landed again?
