(Help and/or Bug Report) - Stuck at Title Screen - Not a Freeze Up, Just Can't Do Anything
Launches okay, the title screen appears, and then nothing. It's not frozen, but I'm unable to select "New Game". Mouse doesn't appear on screen (although I don't know if it's even supposed to) and the arrow / enter keys do absolutely nothing.

Makes me sad. I'd been looking forward to playing this for a while.

Of course, if that Linux port had come through, this might not have been an issue since I could try it that way too. I highly doubt that's going to happen anymore.

Yes, I have the exact same issue.

Do you guys have controllers plugged in? If you do, they will be used as the default controller. Unplug them to use keyboard/mouse controls

Happens whether the controller is plugged in or not. The only thing I can do with the keyboard is open up the Steam overlay with shift/tab (and can do everything in the overlay). Absolutely nothing else does anything on the menu screen.

I'm not sure if this will do anything, but have tried running the game with different settings? (i.e. Multi-threading off and/or shaders off).

We haven't heard of this happening before. Our input code is pretty straight forward and just uses SDL for the keyboard and mouse. Have you had any issues with other games?

No input issues with other games. I have tried messing with the settings. I also have two sets of keyboard/mouse (wired/wireless) connected and neither do anything.

1) Can you post the keyboard/mouse brands and models you are trying?
2) Are you hearing music and seeing some motion at the title screen? (i.e. not frozen)
3) Can you try to disable steam cloud and try again? (shot in the dark)

Honestly, the issue with me was the controller, I didn't even realize I had it plugged in. Thank you for the advice.

GSTV @darklight That's great. Enjoy!

On that note, since I had a chance to enjoy it, let me just congratulate you @andyhuck on a fantastic and pretty innovative title. Quite pleased :)

Logitech M310 and M100 mice, K810 keyboard, and a Compaq 5137 keyboard. Music and animations play. Should the mouse be showing up on the menu screen or is that keyboard only to select new/continue? Also, I had tried an XBox controller at first, which also did nothing. Any configuration settings I could check?

yes, the mouse icon should be showing up if you don't have a controller plugged in. If you look at the image in the link below, the hand icon that is just to the left of the "it's just regular coffee" option is what the mouse icon should look like (just rotated). It should be visible before you actually start the game in the launcher as well.

If you have an xbox controller plugged in, you will not see the mouse icon, but the "Continue" button should be highlighted by default. up/down to move, A to confirm.

I did some quick looking around for any issues with that hardware and SDL and couldn't find anything.

The only thing I can think of is that you have something else plugged in that is being recognized by XInput as a valid input device. If that is the case, the game thinks that thing is the primary controller. Any chance that could be it?

When I get a chance later I'll go through and use one peripheral at a time to see if that changes any conflicts. Thanks for trying to help. I've really been looking forward to this game since I first saw it.

Don't give up hope. I actually tried installing and running it again just now after you reminded me about the issue and it worked just fine. Maybe wait a while and whatever is interfering will go away.

Im having this same issue. Its installed on a laptop with only a mouse plugged in. I can get past the start screen with my steam controller, but no further than that. When I have to move past the dialogue option it says press Y, but it will not let me do anything.
