Bug - getting stuck during "clairvoyant"-sequences
I had this issue several times now. It mostly happens during the "chronology"-puzzles and is triggered when I start to "visualize". The bug mainly seems to occur when I'm standing too far away from the first chronology-scene. In these cases the camera starts to move towards this position but gets stuck somewhere on the way, the environmental animations and sounds continue but nothing happens and the game does not react to any keys pressed.

After the update this morning I experienced a similar bug during the "clue clairvoyance"-sequence regarding the fire axe in the generator house. The vision of the camera circling the axe opened and got stuck, leaving me unable to exit the sequence.
Once again I had to leave the game via task manager, which gets quite annoying because the system immediately jumps back into the game before I am able to end the process. Had to open the task manager 12(!) times before I got to press the buttons fast enough to abort the game. Don't like to do a cold reset every time I get stuck.

Great game folks, but please try to look into this issue!

Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce 8600 GT (1 Gb)
4 GByte RAM
Windows 7 (64bit)
(game runs quite smooth)

I've had the exact same issue today after the new patch, at the stump that was covered with blood in the church graveyard. Had a tough time quitting via the task manager too.

Same problem here. Happened before any autosave so I need to start the game from scratch :(

Is this something that always happens with the visions or randomly? We're trying to repro this problem, but so far no luck -- everything works perfectly fine :(

No, I had this bug during the "chronology" sequences three times now (just finished the game btw.) It seems like I could work around it when I stood close to the "# 1" scene before activating "visualize". In the cemetery for example I stood near the blood stain, when I activated the cutscene. The camera went in direction of the crypt and stuck at the small stairs directly above the blood stain. Similar at the railcar: The bug only occured when I activated visualization too far away from the "grandpa takes rock" scenery. Whenever I stood close to the first scenes, it worked. Seems to be somehow related to the camera path, maybe.
The bug at the "axe clue"-scene was a one time only, I did not encounter another bug with the cluevisions.

Thanks for this otherwise great game! Love the graphics and mood!

I've had the same problem on random clue inspections. The first being the spiked trap in the ground towards the left at the beginning of the game. Complete loss of control from keyboard and mouse except for zooming. Started a new game and same problem on same clue.
Started another new game skipping that clue, just happened again at the "?" clue located directly beside the Vandegriff crypt.
As an old Myst junkie, I'm enjoying the game thus far. However, this is a little disappointing =(

After restarting once again it now seems to be happening with random inspections. Will check the distance from the clue as stated above to see if that's the issue.

to me it happened twice at the blood by the stump in the graveyard, but the third time, I got the crow first then went in the crypt before going to the stump and it worked ok. By the way the game looks beautiful. As a graphic artist I can see how much work went into it. I've never seen tree bark and boulders look so good. The only thing was the shadows didn't seem quite right or in realtime.

I keep getting stuck at the trap to the left off the opening scene, the bloody branch in the ground one, is there a work around? I've restarted the game 3 times now and cannot get past it.

It eventually started working properly for me. The only other glitch i encountered was turning off the turbine. It required checkpoint reload for the turbine gear to become useable, then another restart for the water level to actually lower. I've since finished the game and enjoyed it for what it was worth.

"It eventually started working properly for me." -- any idea why? :) We have this bug classified under "X-Files" in our database, because we are unable to reproduce it in any way. But maybe whatever you did to get rid of it could help others here with the same problem.

I too am experiencing this issue first on the bear trap then after a restart on the spike trap right at the start

No sir no clue. I never tried reinstalling only started new games. It would bug, then it wouldn't.

Just got this game as a gift for my birthday, after touching traps in the starting area I get randomly stuck like others have described. Since I'm pretty sure it's going to happen throughout the game there's hardly any point in playing it. Please devs can you fix this!

Traps in the starting area did it for me; first time I played the game, I investigated the railcar, determined I needed a crank. Looked at severed legs, body, had a look around down by the lake, then kept walking and exploring over the dam, houses, down the other side of the lake, church, graveyard, then back to the starting area. Went through the tunnel, got the achievement, then looked for traps, found 4 then stuck on the spike pit trap...
