your gamma is to damn high.
The problem is that even if you can see the axe, you cannot pick it up, without the headlamp from the tram lighting it. Even when you pull the tram too far forward, you can't interact with the axe. It requires the light. You gamma setting isn't relevant.
Note that this is one of the things that was fixed in the first update, so that you couldn't interact with things in the dark.
The problem with this is that I had already driven the vehicle back and forward with the intent of gaining momentum and breaking through the rocks but apparently not ALL the way back (but close), and the spedometer is broken/doesn't show a speed gain. So I had to look this up.
