Discussing the Ending *SPOILERS*

So having just finished this game, I sat back in awe at what I have just played. now, the ending - and here come spoilers -, where your character is one of Ethan's story characters was great, but what really happened to Ethan's family. Did they actually systematically kill off one another? Die during the fire in the house at the end? I'm not sure if the game is deliberately not clear on the matter, so I was hoping to take some other player's views/interpretations.

We don't know, because we only know the things that Ethan knows. So what happens to them after 07:05 is lost to us.

It is a strange concept as you could argue that 'The Sleeper' is the smoke that killed Ethan, or even Ethan himself, as the whole 'You brought me to life' thing. Also if Ethan did write the Story you are part of then he 1) wrote a story where he is missing in the basement of the house, and 2) wrote a story that involved the killing of his entire family. Though I'm not sure how much the interchanging of the worlds has affected the story we see.

What I got was: Ethan hated his family, and he dies in the fire while his family regret the way they treated him.

Maybe someone will have a more in-depth analysis with the detective story.

i found it pretty obvious that the twist was ethan was actually prospero

i remember saying to myself early on, just after the spaceman, 'i hope im not just 'dreaming' this as ethan'
which you effectively are.

still, interesting game and better than others like 'dear esther'
more to do, and far superior visuals which really add to the experience.
