The Vanishing of Ethan Crater Original VS Redux ?
Never played this game.
Looking toward starting this game soon.
Watched a few comparison videos, but I didn't want to watch too muc, to avoid any spoilers.

Got a few question:

1. Which version is superior in visuals, fidelity, realism?
2. What about performance and stability?
3. Whcontrols, features, UI?
4. Perhaps I should play both, in which case: Which version should I play first and foremost?

5. And is this game one that you should/could replay at all?
I assume, since it's a dedective mystery thriller type game, that you can't really replay it since the experience won't be the same thing as the first run, and you would know precisely what to do and what's coming in the gameplay and plot.

6. Are there any limitations- like FrameRate cap - in any or both versions?

I got the impression that it's actually the Original verison - that is superior due to far realistic waters.
I also got the impression that the Redux has too much fog that seems to lower vision clarity and obscure detail.

EDIT: I am posting this thread on both the Original and Redux page, for obvious reasons, and the sake of objectiveness.

Hi.

You get the normal version and Redux, when buying the original one.

The redux version.

It seems that the Redux has a bit better performance regarding fps and stability.

There is no difference for gameplay, only for performance and graphics. There is a few bugs that has been fixed in Redux. You should play the Redux version, except if you want to speedrun the game.

Depends on how much you like it. It won't be that interesting the second time, cause you know all the stuff that happens.

Are there any limitations- like FrameRate cap - in any or both versions?
You can limit the fps by enabling V-Sync. Leaving it disabled will give you unlimited fps.

Hi Baunsgaard,

Thank you so much for this comprehensive answer, it's great to see some community members serving other community members! :)

Can we have the reflections back through mod or something?
