Questionable video quality
I was surprised to see that the demo uses poorly compressed video instead of 3D rendering for the gameplay. I thought it would be implemented in 3D space like Project DIVA. I'd pay more for a 3D game.
If you're going to use video instead, then I hope that the full game has higher quality music videos. The demo looks like the quality you find on the Inti Creates Youtube channel. Not mad, just disappointed. :steamsad:

Yeah I'm just as baffled by it, but it was pretty clear from the trailers and the screenshots and the fact that songs without the 3D Muse characters (like those from ASG1 that use crusty 3DS gameplay footage) that this was going to be video playback
Makes you wonder why they even bother having the 3D Muses in the menu if that's everthing they are going to be used for :Luminous_Avenger_ix_Lola: And considering how they are already nickeling and diming this game to hell, it's a bit of a missed opportunity to not sell some cosmetic packs too like Persona Dancing, just saying

the 3d rendering would have been very good, I hope they add another version of the "simple" background with the 3D Muses randomly dancing at least

Most likely it was done to maintain parity with the Switch version. I doubt that console's hardware would have been able to provide a playable experience if it had to render muses and environments in 3D.

I hadn't thought of that. I guess Inti didn't either. Unless they want to re-render the videos for each variation, lol. RIP storage space.

Or they don't want people modding the characters outfits themselves. If you catch my drift.

Yeah, probably that too (didn't stop Gal*Gun 2, tho). Inti as a whole is very protective of their game files since they have obfuscated the name files for their games on PC for years (mostly the music in particular, I guess they are just too afraid of people just ripping the files, but they won't release their music in any digital format :GUNVOLT:)

The PSVita could handle multiple dancers in Persona 4 Dancing just fine. I'm sure they'd be able to get the game running in real time on Switch if it was a priority. To my knowledge, Sega was able to accomplish a similar feat on Switch in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix, with multiple characters in custom outfits.

This STILL baffles me, as I had tried to find the GV OSTs on Apple Music. I can maybe understand it in Japan where they're selling CDs and hosting events. It's not like they make acquiring the CDs in the West easy though.

Maybe the easier explanation is that they didn't want to animate all that many dances (lol) and it was easier to just recycle the vids from concerts and stuff (seriously, playing gameplay footage and with the subs on looks very embarrassing for what should be the most iconic song in the series)

Same company whose only method of letting people watch the OVA legally is to purchase from the 3DS eShop, which is dead now, or buy the Japan-only Bluray. They aren't even copyright-claiming uploads of the BR version on Youtube when instead they could be hosting it themselves on their official channel and get that ad revenue :Luminous_Avenger_ix_Blade:

they're basically the youtube videos but with worse compression. I downloaded all the videos awhile back and its a sad comparison.

I don't think so. It can handle a lot of cool stuff with proper coding. Even PS Vita (persona rhythm games) and X360\PS3 (Rock Band\Guitar Hero etc) handled these things just perfectly fine without delays while maintaining high response to controls. Switch has more computational power than X360\PS3, and, of course, PS Vita.

You know, there are Kizuna AI - Touch the Beat! and Hatsune Miku games with realtime 3D pretty neat models dancing on scene =)

Wellp then it must have been a tight budget. Would have been a day one buy for me if it wasn't just a crusty video player. Worse than Dragon's Lair/Time Gal video quality.
