The game is TOO EASY.
What is the point of playing a Soulslike if there is no challenge.
Please devs, tune the difficulty to the level of Lies of P at least. :er_sad:

i agree i love the game but way too easy so far. I have yet to make it to the fat lady in the woods to see how hard she is but from the vidoes i have watched she looks easy as well.

I think by limiting the dodges would make a huge difference
It is probably a mistake that stamina no longer exists.

Tiel had the most stamina in the first game, but you still couldn't simply spam attacks and dodges as much as you want. Eredrim was the exact opposite, lots of HP but very little stamina, so you really had to manage it well.
In MS2, you can simply spam attacks and permanently stunlock standard enemies.

Perfect guards, parries, and harden are also very forgiving. On top of that, the bosses movesets are very simple compared to those in the Souls games, with no need to study their attacks. The Tar Golem makes for a good first boss and was fun. All the others in the beta feel more like gimmicks, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but please, not several of them in such quick succession.

And on top of that, the shotgun is incredibly powerful, borderline op, even without upgrades. By contrast, the lute and the crossbow seem almost useless, though you pack the lute for the flavor and even if it didn't deal any damage, I’d still always carry it with me.
the parry window is pretty insane. I wouldn't make it as tight as lies of P cause that was even more than bloodborne and Dark souls.
Magdalena too hard? Not really, just use crossbow to stagger and there you go, Easy fight.
The guys are cooking kkkkk.

Pseudo-pro-players, just chill and wait.

it is all about discourse: you can tell them that difficult to you matters, but putting a "THE GAME IS TO EASY" just sound a bland critic in my opinion.

People are saying the same about Onimusha, thinking that every game must be like Sekiro or something.

I think people should chill, help development if they want. Or else, F$#$ off.

Death Howl profile pic. Great game! Bought it on switch on a whim, thought it looked dope and by golly did I make the right call. Gem of a game.
TL;DR:
You can hope for an indie to revolutionize a genre, but you can't really expect it. Also, you're getting better and better at these games which all kind of function the same.

True, but tell me, outside of Elden Ring DLC, what soulslike was properly hard lately?

What I'm saying is, this is the type of gameplay that once you "get," unfortunately only cheap mechanics and a massive power balance (against you) will fix.

I played Demon's Souls when it came out on PS3, a lot. Then Dark Souls came out and everyone was losing their minds, but if you'd played Demon's Souls beforehand, it wasn't that bad at all. Then every game after that is getting that timing muscle memory down to a T, and in turn they all feel a bit easier than the previous one.

If you had been parrying in souls for 3 games, 10 years, then you probably thought people were crazy when saying Sekiro needs an easy mode. Because you were used to much tighter parry frames and Sekiro's were WAY LARGE compared to Souls.
After grinding through a thousand hours, multiple NG+, and six different builds in Elden Ring, I like having something that feels a bit more straight forward and fun. I don't have the time in my life to dedicate min-maxing builds and strats, and this time of year is when I'm outside more anyway. Sometimes I just want to have fun, and this game has that in spades. You still have to parry and make use of your toolset. It's definitely Souls-lite and frankly I have been wanting this exact recipe for some time.

Yea I think that's pretty much it. Enemies and bosses feel like they were designed for a player gated by stamina. They have simpler attacks and big openings. The Hardening special move will inflict a stun on even on the biggest bosses. You get infinite stamina for dodge rolls and swings, can stunlock guys with R1R1R1. With a stamina limitation, you have to actually make decisions between dodging vs attacking,

I get that nowadays stamina is basically a vestigial mechanic in modern Souls games. Dodge rolling and attacks cost next to nothing and stamina costs are rarely a serious concern anymore in games like Elden Ring and Bloodborne after a few level ups.

But formalizing how trivial the mechanic is by doing away with it entirely... it has some consequences on the design that the combat encounters are clearly not balanced around. Not very many enemies can handle you R1ing them to death.

Funny enough, playing the for no-shell achievement in Mortal Shell basically DID give so much stamina that it was might as well have been infninite... at the drawback of only having 1 HP. Was a fun way to play. Sure you can dodge roll all you want but you can never get hit!

Easiest fix would be to just re-introduce the stamina mechanic. Suddenly the mobs and boss fights would make a lot more sense. If they're really committed to doing away with stamina, then they need to make the enemies way more aggressive to compensate for the player getting to attack and dodge as much as they want. And that's the more difficult fix.
Do NOT make this game as hard as lies of p. Nerf parry timing to make it a bit harder but thats all. Mortal shell does not need to be a very difficult souls like. Its one thing i liked about the first, it was somewhat relaxing for a souls like.
No. Do not reintroduce stamina. Do not make this as hard as Lies of P.

The difficulty is perfect as it is. Not every game needs to be Elden Ring, Dark Souls, or ball-busting levels of difficulty for enjoyment.

This is the vision they have for the game. And I'm all for it.
No, it's not too easy, thank you very much. I would prefer difficulty settings, if you want a harder difficulty.

its a beta the origional game had stam. They are just testing. Being able to just spam R1 is no skill and no fun. Get good.
I agree with OP. GO play a disney game or a non souls like if you want something easy. R1 spam is not fun.
