Never played Mortal Shell 1

Is it a sequel to the first game's story in any way? Or is it just a standalone title?

so far it seems that you really do not need to know anything about the first game.
the story of that was... obscure and this is similar.
you could watch a short YT video to bring you up to snuff but really no need to play the first.
(besides it being a nice if short game - and probably quite cheap by now)
