How to install mod and apply it?

where can I download mod and how to apply it to the game?

Ussally there is a guide on how to install the mod on the website where you download it

moddb has lots of mods for KoH.
Either they have an installer or you copy the content into the game files folder.
Proper mods have readme files on how-to.

Actually, I am not sure which mod is recommended.
I want to increase the difficulty and make AI smater.

In that case, ultimate edition is good?

this is an installer that has some options for you to choose, during installation.
