Report a translation problem
Important with any modding of this game: RUN IT ONCE IN VANILLA, before doing anything else. It has to create some files first. Otherwise you run into problems.
All I did was running this HD patch, available as a standalone download on the Ultimate Edition moddb page:

You give it the path to your game directory and it patches the game to the newest version and applies the resolution of your choosing (e.g. 1920x1080).
That's it. The game works, menus may look off since they use art assets not made for 1920x1080.
You can then add any mod offering art assets for higher resolutions (e.g. the Ultimate Edition mod you posted).
I personally combine it with the newest economic expansion mod for some fixes + lore friendly expansion of some gameplay aspects. Ultimate edition is a bit too extreme.
