I've tried relaunching a few times now, and it locks up entirely during the initial loading screen after selecting a new game and the difficulty.
I'd say, as it is now, don't purchase it for use on the Steam Deck. Clearly as an Early Access Game, things will change with time and updates, so keep hopeful for now.
I'm just going to stream it from my main desktop to my Deck for now and primarily play on my gaming tower.
Good question. I'm curious about that as well. What Proton do you typically run?
I'd not experimented since it launched into the main game, usually that means it's got the best chance of success, however...
Proton Experimental - Same result, but loading screen went to 0FPS before crashing.
Proton Hotfix - Same result, but FPS during the loading screen bounces all over from 3 to 60, ultimately crashing like before.
Proton9-5 - Same result
Proton8-30 - Wouldn't even launch, and was given this error - "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -3d12 command line argument."
Proton 8.0-5 - Wouldn't even launch, and was given this error - "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -3d12 command line argument."
Proton 7.0-6 - Wouldn't even launch, and was given this error - "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -3d12 command line argument."
Proton 6.3-8 - Wouldn't even launch, and was given this error - "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -3d12 command line argument."
Just for funsies...
Proton 3.16-9 - Wouldn't even try to launch.
TL;DR - Looks like nothing is working currently, but again, it's Early Access, so we're going to be getting some updates and patches and whatnot. Maybe if we keep our collective fingers crossed, we'll get Deck compatibility before long.
I guess we'll be waiting for official support from the devs, if it ever happens.
