Stygian Reign of The Old Ones was abandoned. WIll this game share the same fate?
Stygian Reign of The Old Ones was abandoned by developer. It was clearly unfinished, story ended abrutly. Developer stopped responding and making patches. WIll this game share the same fate?

Finish Reign of the The Old Ones first, then we can talk about giving you more money (talking to the greedy Stygian IP owners).

To clarify things, Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones was developed by Cultic Games. Stygian: Outer Gods is being developed by Misterial Games, a different development team. Both games were / are being published by Fulqrum Publishing.

Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones is a finished game; it came out as a 1.0 and received multiple patches after the launch. If it's the ending of the story that concerns you, it was done this way in order to not rush the final chapters of the game, and leave an intentionally open ending, so that the story could be further explored in a sequel. Sadly, this plan didn't work out.

I'm linking a statement that Cultic Games published after releasing the initial game, with further details:

Is this Stygian going to be left incomplete like the last Stygian title?

Stygian: Outer Gods is being developed by a different developer, Misterial Games, and worry you not, they are giving it their best!

We need the publisher to explain situation with Stygian series
We need to know what happened with the first game - why its was never finished and why developer didn't fix the game. bugs
Why publisher didn't work anymore with Cultic games.

the last game was broken and they never fixed it
your last game i liked but it had crashing and saving bugs that made it so i could not even finish it are you going to do the same like this? are you guys really going to make a sequel when you abandoned last game and did not fix what was wrong with it? how can we trust you with our money when you sell broken products?

It is not the same studio. Although I wish it was.

Are you sure tho? I mean yes the studio name is different but a dev can just disband a studio and start a new one under a different name to shake off a bad reputation. I don't have the time or care enough to research the two studio's but I wouldn't be surprised if the previous studio disbanded and they made a new one. They even have the same publisher.
Yig Feb 24 @ 12:47pm
If it's not the same studio why would they want to have anything to do with a game known to have never been finished and sold as finished ?
Quick comment on this - the publisher is the same for both, but not the developer
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Except they removed multiple features talking about reworking them, leaving the bones in and non-functional, I waited years for them to fix it to no avail.

Lost rights?
So did the dev of Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones lose the rights after that failure to the publisher or what? Because after the disapointment that was that game, not to mention the unfinished state it was left it I can't think there will be all that many people willing to invest in this franchise, especially with a new unproven dev.

Exactly.

And the story ends suddenly. It was clearly abandoned by publisher/IP owner Fulqrum Publishing, which cut funding and told them to quickly improvise barebones ending.

Which is a shame, because game itself had potential and devs (Cultic Games studio from Turkey) were clearly talented.

I wouldn't be suprised if they do the same to these new devs (Misterial Games) and the game will be abandoned and unfinished/rushed in the same way.

I'm sorrry dear Fulqrum representative, but I don't trust you guys anymore.
I know that it's not your fault FQ_Dom;, you are just a PR/marketing guy, so I wish you a good day.
