Press PS button to get steamvr dashboard
so i cant access the play space editor or anything else it just goes to a loading screen and boots on my monitor
btw
some apps starts normal (Pixel Dungeon for example)
but others - starts on PC instead on VR headset (apps for VR videos for example) or just not start at all
You will need a compatible graphics card, ideally anything after Pascal architecture Nvidia (Nvidia GTX 1650 and newer).
Please try the following...
- Hardware
If you have additional VR headsets, make sure to disconnect them from the graphics card so that only the PSVR2 is connected.
If you have a multi-display configuration, disconnect the highest resolution display and keep only the lowest resolution display connected.
- SteamVR
In the SteamVR settings menu you will need to click the OpenXR tab and if it doesn't display "SteamVR" as the current API, click the "Set SteamVR as the OpenXR runtime" button.
Then in the "Manage API Layers" link disable any API's listed.
Then via SteamVR status toolbar > "Developer" > "Developer Settings" > click the "Enable Direct Display Mode" button. Restart SteamVR to confirm the changes are applied.
Laptop settings
- Temporarily disable Fast startup in the bios so that driver updates are correctly upgraded following a restart.
- Software
Uninstall the graphics card software using Display Driver Uninstaller.
Download and install the newest graphics card software from the Laptop manufacturer website. These will have customised drivers for the laptop. The generic graphics card software for Nvidia / AMD may not correctly enable dedicated graphics for a type-C display port.
-In Nvidia Control Panel
If you have a laptop with a type-C to Display Port cable to the PSVR2 adapter, you will need to check the Nvidia Control Panel and in the Manage 3D Settings section, change the following to use the dedicated graphics card... Manage 3D Settings, Manage Display Mode (or Nvidia Optimus) and Configure sound and PhysX.
When you change the PhysX setting to use the dedicated graphics card, it should display the type-C port underneath the dedicated graphics card image. If it is displayed in the integrated graphics image, it means the type-C port does not utilise a dedicated graphics card.
- In Manufacturer software (for laptops)
If the manufacturer bundled any software, you can check if it has a performance mode, or gaming mode which enables a mux switch to utilise the dedicated graphics card instead.
- In bios (enable dedicated graphics card)
It may be possible to enable that feature in the bios for example if it has thunderbolt port, try enabling the mux switch so it uses the dedicated graphics card.
I have a multi monitor system, with a external NVIDIA 4090 card. I can see the Steam VR home on my psvr2 headset, but none of the games will play on my psvr2 headset. It just displays on my monitor. Have tried deinstallation of the software, and all above options. (except the openxr).
This reminds me why I stopped playing on my pc 15 years ago and bought a console. Plug it in and it works. (sorry for the narcissistic comment)
It's accessible via SteamVR settings menu via the SteamVR status box (where it displays the headset icon and multiple VR controllers click the menu icon).
There is an OpenXR tab you can click and then it displays a button to "Set SteamVR as the OpenXR runtime" if it hasn't been set as SteamVR already.
Then in the "Manage API Layers" link disable any API's listed.
Then via SteamVR status toolbar > "Developer" > "Developer Settings" > click the "Enable Direct Display Mode" button. Restart SteamVR to confirm the changes are applied.
Connect your type-C to display port cable to the adapter and the type-C port with a D icon next to it or a Thunderbolt port.
Uninstall Windows Mixed Reality or Meta Quest software if installed but not used.
Start Steam as administrator, uninstall the PlayStation VR2 app and SteamVR.
Download the newest graphics card software from the manufacturer website and install it as administrator, use the CUSTOM installation method with all items ticked for installation. When it has completed, restart the computer.
View Nvidia Control Panel and set the Configure sound and PhysX to use the dedicated graphics card.
Start Steam as administrator, install SteamVR and then the PlayStation VR2 app. Complete the configuration steps of the PlayStation VR2 app.
Switch on the PSVR2 headset after the PlayStation VR2 app is started or SteamVR has been loaded.
The VR headset should be switched off before the computer is restarted. It shouldn't be switched on while Windows is loading.
