If your Bluetooth is integrated and came with your PC, take a look at the back of the computer and confirm the antennas were installed. Often people are buying pre-builts and are forgetting to install those. Although it might work without them for a short period, they have to be installed for VR gaming.

If they're not installed, fit them or buy a replacement antenna (if you cant find the ones it came with). If they are installed, tighten them in as they easily come loose when you attach cables and remove them etc.

With that installed, you'll want to get the newest version of the driver software available for your hardware from the manufacturer website and install those as administrator. Then it should be possible to pair the PSVR2 controllers again and use it with SteamVR.

If the computer is underneath the desk, place it on a desk if there is space for it.

If the PSVR2 controller continues to disconnect, make sure the faulty unit battery is full and then using the pin hole at the back of the handle reset the controller (holding a pin for at least 8 seconds until complete). Then pair it to Windows and try using it again with Steam VR.

If the performance has improved but it still occasionally becomes stuck mid-air or they don't appear in VR randomly. Disconnect any additional Bluetooth peripherals and only use the VR controllers with the Bluetooth hardware. These have helped many people having issues with the PSVR2 controllers.

What model PCI-E / M2 Bluetooth module or USB Bluetooth adapter are you having this issue with? Thanks
I am also experiencing this. Used to work without error a few months ago. Tried to get back into VR and the right controller is all over the place. Its not my system as everything worked without error prior to the most recent app update. I deleted/reinstalled SteamVR and the PSVR2 App and it had no effect on controller performance. I will track this thread for solutions. I would bet that with tracked system use/performance this controller issue will be addressed in a future update.
The error you're having is due to a Bluetooth issue. You can try the following which have worked for other PSVR2 users...

PCI-E / M2 Bluetooth modules

- Check the antenna is attached to the back of the computer.

a) If they are missing you would see two circular things from the back of the machine.

b) they should be fitted if you have forgotten to install them (and your computer included them).

c) If they are already installed, try tightening them as I've noticed they easily become loose when inserting display cables etc.

d) If they are missing, you can buy upgraded replacements that are on Amazon and install them instead.

- Visit the manufacturer website for the Bluetooth hardware and download and install the newest driver software as an administrator (instead of Windows Update).

- If the computer is underneath a desk or a table, place it on the desk (if there is space for it).

USB Bluetooth adapter

- If using the ASUS BT500 adapter - Download the driver software from the ASUS website[www.asus.com].
- If using the TP-LINK UB500 (UB5A) adapter - Download the BETA[www.tp-link.com] driver software from their website. It doesn't work with the stable driver.
- If using any other brand Bluetooth adapter - Download the software from the manufacturer website.

Don't use the generic Microsoft default drivers as they're not suitable for VR controllers.

Before installing the driver...

a) If you have onboard bluetooth, make sure to unpair all Bluetooth peripherals in Windows and then via Device Manager, expand the Bluetooth section and right click the older hardware and click the Disable device option.

b) connect the adapter into a USB 2.0 port with a short USB 2.0 extension cable (ideally 1 metre or 3 feet).

c) place it away from the computer but in front of the desk so it is visible from where you are using VR and don't have the cable on the ground.

d) view Device Manager, expand the Bluetooth section and right click and Uninstall the USB Bluetooth adapter, and if it displays checkbox to delete the driver, tick the box and click the Uninstall button. After that is complete, do not scan for hardware changes.

e) unzip the downloaded driver software and right click the installer, start it as administrator, then complete the installation. Then restart the computer and pair the controllers again for use with SteamVR.

Additional considerations

- If you have multiple Bluetooth peripherals like keyboards, headphones and Xbox / Playstation gamepads etc. Disconnect them from Bluetooth before beginning SteamVR and instead use a wired connection for those. It works much better when only the PSVR2 controllers are connected to Bluetooth and you shouldn't see the controllers becoming stuck mid-air or the controllers not appearing when in VR mode.

If you have an onboard bluetooth device in a laptop computer, make sure to keep the lid open while using VR.

If you have an incompatible onboard bluetooth hardware or USB adapter. Try using the ASUS BT500 with a short USB 2.0 extension cable inserted into a USB 2.0 port as this has worked best for most PSVR2 users.
Anyone get anything working without issue yet?

My controllers also lose tracking for several seconds randomly and become stuck mid air, usually the right one. It doesn't happen super often, but often enough to be a massive annoyance on a regular basis in every session.

I have everything up to date, my antennae is connected. I have unplugged every wireless dongle and disconnected every other Bluetooth device. I have plugged the adapter into a USB 2.0 port. I have uninstalled and reinstalled VR software, I've tried moving the antennae as far away from the PC as possible toward the play area so it is in clear range, etc. etc.
I have used the new feature on the app that gives an out-of-100 rating on Bluetooth connection, and they stay at 96-100% in the entire room.

Yet the controllers ALWAYS freeze mid air every several minutes or so for several seconds. It is incredibly annoying with no clear solution in sight.

I'm betting that your USB Bluetooth adapter is overheating.
Or its (usb) "power supply" on the computer motherboard is overheating.

Buy a better quality and shorter (if possible) USB cable.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I am positive that isn't the issue.
I am using my PCs built in Bluetooth, and when referencing the antennae I am talking about the antennae that comes with and attaches to the motherboard to strengthen WiFi and Bluetooth connection. I am not using a Bluetooth USB adapter.

And by mentioning the adapter I mean the PSVR2 PC adapter, not a Bluetooth one.

I know some people have issue with their built in Bluetooth with these controllers, as in they just won't connect, and try a Bluetooth adapter. I could try that, but I struggle to believe my built in Bluetooth isn't more than enough. It pairs right away and the connection seems to be strong from the app settings.
And I have had a few play sessions where the controllers did not freeze at all, though they usually do. Which makes me think there might be some interference. But clearing out all the other wireless stuff doesn't help.

And this is a very PC specific issue with these specific controllers. The only thing left for me to try is a separate Bluetooth USB adapter. Though I hate having to do that when I already have good Bluetooth.
Very annoying indeed. I don't know why this is such a struggle for these things on PC when it is a non-issue using them on PS5, and a non-issue for any other Bluetooth accessory.

I don't even know what to write back to you. :steamsad:

Maybe start by plugging this virtual link adapter into an outlet that gives enough current. :steamsad:

All good, thanks for trying to help.
I thought of one more thing to try, and just ordered a bigger antenna to plug into the motherboard. Maybe an increased antenna range will help, if the one that came with the motherboard isn't quite cutting it for these controllers for some reason.
I'll let the thread know if it helps.
Tp-link and more Bluetooth USB adapter is bad. Sony PlayStation®VR2 PC Adapter is good.
When upgrading antenna on onboard Bluetooth it is better to use those attached to an extension cable that can be placed on the front of the desk where it would be visible while using VR.

Noted. The one I ordered should have plenty of length.
The one that came with the motherboard is already a good length for moving in clear sight right next to the play area.

A bigger antenna is just a shot in the dark. So here's to hoping.

I read it is also dependent on the chip in the Bluetooth adapter. A user mentioned on reddit the mediatek versions aren't compatible.
Quick update from me:

the Asus adapter has been working quite a while for me now but after a long vr break, I wanted to play again recently and for whatever reason neither controller could track and I had to pair them again. Then of course the right controller wouldnt track and my hand would always get stuck in Hard Bullet or HL Alyx.

What really helped for me, was to plug in a usb extender cable and move the dongle away from the pc and put it somewhere right next to my play area. Had zero issues then. I think there is just to much stuff conflicting with the bluetooth signal when the adapter is right next to the pc (wifi, other adapter like wireless headset and gamepad etc.)
