PlayStation®VR2 App

Can't complete PSVR2 PC Setup - stuck in Play area
have a laptop (Legion 5 Pro w RTX 3070) with USB-c displayport 1.4 support.
Tried with the usb c to displayport female adapter & displayport 1.4 cable as well as usb-c to Displayport male cable but neither of them helped.

1) "Playstation vr 2 is required" message is displayed if I don't start steam vr manually and just go with the PSVR2 app for the setup (steam vr is set as default for openxr) by the way.

2) if I start steam vr manually at this point I just see steam vr home and no pointers to click next to setup play area

3) via steam vr dashboard if I go to psvr2 settings to setup play area, play area app opens and displays "start scanning" message but I only see steam vr home in the headset

4) monitor displays passthrough from the headset (although partially - only some section of the room is displayed and the rest is black) but no passthrough or room setup or controller pointers to click on "Next" or "start scanning" are displayed. Only steam vr home

is anyone else facing this issue?

I seem to have a similar issue where i'm in steam vr and i can see a message from the playstation app saying i need to set up the room scale....when i press yes nothing happens and it resets my viewing position to halfway through the floor...i then have to exit steam vr to resolve the issue. Everytime i go back to steam vr the message from the ps app remains.

It's strange as i had it set up fine on day one but since i played it back on the ps5 then back to pc i've had this issue.

I get the same psvr2 is required as well when steam vr is not open, so it's like the app is not recognising the headset but it's shows as recognised on the screen in the app showing the headset and controllers.

I have the exact same issue and many people reporting this same particular problem. Hopefully they will come up with a fix soon.

I'm having the same issue. If I launch the PlayStationVR2 App without Steam, it simply can't detect the headset. If I launch SteamVR first and then go to the play area settings setting, it launches the Room Setup app, but not as a VR app or whatever — so I can't interact with the "Start Scanning" button. I can see what my headset's cameras see!!

I never installed the iVry drivers and all my drivers are signed Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc.; My hardware is all in spec (RTX 3060, DP 1.4, tried all of my USB ports), but i even went as far as purchasing a brand new DP 1.4 cable because I thought maybe my cable was out of spec causing issues with camera uplink but nope.

I know the headset works; unofficial mods of some games will allow me to play without needing to set an OpenVR play space, but any games that do require the space to be set (basically everything else) are unusable.

It's driving me crazy. All that's stopping me from using this damn headset is the ability to hit a "start scanning" button. It feels like the play area app is bugged since everything else works!!

I've since reinstalled Win11 on my computer and everything just worked. It's not the ideal solution but it is a potential one. The only potential conflict I can think of is that my old install of Steam was /really/ old and I had grandfathered in two Library locations on my C:\ drive — C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam and C:\Games\. PlayStation VR2 App does specify the app can't be installed at another location and maybe it was installing in the wrong place. I have no idea.

Hey guys i found a solution to my problem....i had to go into steam vr ( the little pop up window on desktop..NOT in the headset) click the top left hand side...go into settings...go to the Open XR tab and then select Steam VR as the runtime....once that was done i reset the pc and then when i was in Steam Vr next i could complete the room setup process as it recognised the headset.

Hope this helps
