PlayStation®VR2 App

PlayStation®VR2 App

Will I need to purchase the adapter if I have a VirtualLink port on my GPU?
I'm aware there might be little to no information regarding this as of now, however it'd be nice to hear input on this.
I'll update this discussion once the PSVR2 app releases. Once it does I'll try fire up the app without using the adapter and comment my results.

I have a BizLink style VirtualLink adapter myself. I'm also curious to see if it will still work with this app. It already works with iVRy's version of the driver so I suspect it'll work here as well.

I'm going to guess that the driver is going to be looking for the adapter and won't work without it even if you have a virtual link port you will probably need the IVRY driver to do that

I have the same question, since I have an AMD 7900XT. I know that iVRy's driver does work with VirtualLink, so we have something to fallback on in case sony doesn't, but there is still no support for the controllers, so we have to wait and see if we need to use both Sony and iVRy at the same time. Hopefully Sony's driver will "just work™" for VirtualLink.

Here's the link to his steam page. PSVR2 support cost about $20 (which is still better than $60 for a hardware adapter), but there is a 10 day free trial called Lite version, that you can try out before you need to pay.

The official PSVR2 adapter will be better supported, and more reliable. The iVRy software requires very specific hardware in your PC, and the use of a mobile app that barely works. It costs money, and there is no support.

If you're like me and you're on an Nvidia graphics card that is 3000 series or newer, then iVRy is useless.

IVRY doesn't need a mobile app, all it requires is a virtuallink adaptor which appears to be identical to what the sony adaptor will be. I expect it to still work using a non sony one but will be testing when it releases. Also support has been fine, I had some issues and they were answered promptly

The PSVR2 app isn't yet available for install, it says in 5 hours approx.

I have a 6800 XT and i tried it with iVRy once but the controllers didn't work. Maybe once you have got the PSVR2 app installed, you can connect the controllers via bluetooth? The Dongle doesn't handle the controllers so there might still be a chance for us virtual link gpu users.

I might try it today once the app is available but i am kinda busy going to a pub and getting wasted :D

Did you try?

Tried it for myself, I can get through most of the setup but get stuck at it saying the DisplayPort cable doesn't satisfy quality requirements, supposedly the virtuallink adapter should be DisplayPort 1.4, and I have an RTX 3060 TI. :steamsad:

I've been trying since the moment it released, I can pair the controllers perfectly fine, then moving forward the application stops responding every now and then. I'm stuck on a firmware update screen where it just spins until the headset powers off by itself and the update cancels.
I'll mark a post as the topic answer tomorrow once I get my adaptor (hopefully)

Never mind, I launched the application with the headset plugged in the whole time. Running through the process without plugging it in from the start and connecting when prompted I'm met with a message from NVIDIA Container saying "Unsupported device found on VirtualLink port".

The adaptor IS a requirement

nvm in my case, ended up uninstalling IVRY drivers and validating my installl and that fixed it :steamhappy:

so it works with the VirtualLink Adapter?

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!

I can confirm that this works with no adapter for people that have VirtualLink port on their graphics cards. That's Nvidia RTX 2000 series or AMD 6000 or 7000 series (AFAIK only reference models from AMD/Nvidia have this port, partner models don't have it. E.g 2080 Ti Founders Edition)

I have an AMD 7900XT which has a VirtualLink (usb-c) port and it got detected right away by the PSVR2 software. It still mentioned the adapter but it worked anyway. I then installed SteamVR and played a bit of No Man Sky.

(Also, for those wondering, I do not have anything from iVRy installed)

My only issue is content at the edge of the view is flickering. Not sure if that is because of VirtualLink (I seriously doubt it) or just problems that can be sorted out with driver updates.

3000 series and later Nvidia cards dont support VirtualLink, so this is expected.

my issue could be driver related potentially because I have the iVRy driver installed still.
Hopefully I can get it working by the end of the night
